Obituary

Abraham (Abe) Boehs was born at home near Fairview, Oklahoma, on June 24, 1939, to Pete J. and Annie (Schmidt) Boehs. He passed away on March 22, 2024, at his home west of Ringwood reaching the age of 84.

Dad lived his entire life in Major County, receiving his education at Progressive School. His family moved from Fairview to the Ringwood area and he lived within a 4 mile radius the rest of his life.

On November 4, 1964 Dad was joined in marriage to our mom, Bernice Wedel, in a little church 1 mile east of the home place. They were blessed with 4 sons. Dad and Mom were baptized on February 20, 1974 into the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite at Fairview by Minister Milton Boehs.

A very memorable time in his life was spending a short time in Guatemala, cleaning up after an earthquake. Dad enjoyed dirt work, being a dozer operator in the oil field for 18 years. He also loved gardening and growing vegetables for his family. He was a lifelong cattleman, spending many hours at the sale barns buying cattle for himself and others. He was a hard-working man, teaching us boys the satisfaction of a job well done. Often times he came across as a stern man, but to his family he had a sense of humor and enjoyed a good laugh.

Dad had his struggles, but we were thankful for his reconsecration in 2013. He remained faithful until his passing.

His health slowly began to decline after several mini strokes. He retired and rented out the farm soon after. Mom's passing in 2020 left him grieving and lonely. As his health deteriorated, we were thankful he could stay home with the help of excellent care givers.

Those left behind are his sons- Cody and Yolanda, Harrisburg, Arkansas; Cally and Jenny, Baker City, Oregon; Clay and Heidi, Ringwood, Oklahoma; and Matt and Marti, Cleo Springs, Oklahoma. His grandchildren- Skyler and Caitlyn, Savannah, Layne, Katelyn, Tanner, Shyanne, Easton, Dakota, Kenzi, Ashton, and Emerson. Two sisters- Lydia Mae Dueck, Cartwright, Manitoba; Velma and John Friesen, Whitemouth, Manitoba. One brother Harvey and Loretta, Monterey, Tennessee. Five sisters-in-law- Darlene Boehs, Rose Boehs, Ruth Boehs, Marilyn Friesen, and Wanda Wedel. Also many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife Bernice, his parents, three brothers, and one sister.

The family wishes to express their appreciation to his in-home caregivers and Complete OK Hospice for their loving care.
