Funeral services for Albert "Clayton" Bryant, 72, will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, May 23 at the First Baptist Church of Fairview. The Reverends Jim Nance and Jim Thorpe will officiate. Arrangements are by Fairview Funeral Home, Inc.

Viewing will be on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. The family will be present for a visitation from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday evening.

Clayton Bryant was born January 2, 1936 at home in Brinkman, Greer County, Oklahoma to Albert Rodger and Cora Elsie (McDowell) Bryant , the third child and second son. He died at home in Jet, Oklahoma, on May 19th, 2008.

Clayton graduated from Cheyenne Valley High School in 1953. He attended Northwestern State College in Alva on an academic scholarship. He left college to help at home after the death of his father. Clayton farmed with his family for three years. He attended Lemkey Technology School where he received his contractor's license.

Clayton married Jean Libby December 8, 1956 in Fairview. In January 1957, the couple moved to Billings where Clayton worked as a bookkeeper at Hayton & Sons Co-op. They moved to Blackwell, Oklahoma where Clayton was employed by the city in the water department and was a reserve police officer.

In 1963, they moved back to Fairview where Clayton worked as Under Sheriff. Later he moved to the Fairview Police Department. While there, he worked for Mac's Plumbing. In 1966, he joined the Fairview Fire Department retiring in 1986.

Not one to let any grass grow under his feet; it was his practice to work two jobs most of the time. In addition to the above jobs he also worked as an EMT for the ambulance service, at Fairview Hospital, Fairview Fellowship Home, and Clements plumbing each for 10 years. He was in great demand as he was a talented handyman and plumber.

Clayton was an avid outdoorsman, fisherman, hunter and a talented storyteller. His friends and family will miss his infectious smile and helping hands. He had a deep love of animals and wildlife and hunted as much with binoculars as a rifle.

He was a member and founder of Ridin' 4 Him Cowboy Baptist Church of Nescatunga and was ordained there as a deacon on Sunday, May 18th.

Clayton is survived by his wife of nearly 52 years, Jean; his children, Cindy Bryant of St. Petersburg, Florida, son Rodger Bryant and wife Alethea of Bridgecreek, Oklahoma; his sisters Bobbie Rauch and husband Harold, Pansey "Pat" Flynn and husband Mike; grandchildren, Casey, Ciarra, Braedon, Bailey and Garrett Bryant; uncle Rufus "Bill" Parker of Fairview; step-brother Jim Tate; step-sister Sharon Dehne; nephews and nieces, Kent Needham, Todd Strahan, Kim Logan and Jena Strahan; grandnieces and nephews, Megan Hoffman, Melissa Logan and Matthew and Michael Needham.

Clayton was welcomed into heaven by his parents; his brother Richard; grandnephew Tim Logan and step-father Harold Tate.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to Ridin' 4 Him Cowboy Baptist Church with Fairview Funeral Home, Inc acting as custodians of the funds.
