Alfred "Al" Elvin Massey was born September 18, 1922 in Fittstown, Oklahoma to James Monroe and Callie Mae (Coots) Massey and passed away July 16, 2010 at the Good Neighbor Care of Weatherford, Oklahoma.
Al attended high school in Ada, Oklahoma till the 9th grade. He worked on the family farm after the death of his grandfather Coots before he married Violet "Vi" McGehee on March 29, 1947 in Wewoka, Oklahoma. To this union three children were born, two daughters, Gail and Mitzie and one son, Mark. Al's worked in the oil field and he was transferred to several places in Oklahoma and in 1966 they came to Fairview, settled in, and made it their home. Their three children all graduated from Fairview High School and when Al and Vi retired they remained in Fairview.
Their children presented them with six beautiful granddaughters and a handsome grandson. They were the light of Al's and Vi's life. During their children's growing up they supported each child in every way, be it in school activities, or just by being there in a loving home. As the grandchildren came along, they supported them also, dance recitals, ball games, Rodeos and never missed a graduation. As the great-grandchildren came along, health has hindered being there for them. However, they thank the Lord for each one of them, and pray that they all will be an asset to their communities. Al, himself was a great asset to Fairview. He was very active in American Legion Post 51, a life time member of the Fairview Wranglers and was a member of the Fairview Church of the Nazarene.
He is survived by one son, Mark and wife Carrie Massey of Minco, Okla.; two daughters, Gail and husband Mike Major of Fairview and Mitzie and husband Tom Bierig of Weatherford, Okla.; seven grandchildren, Melanie, Amy, Misty, Marty, Heidi, Amber and Ashley; 17 great-grandchildren, plus one great great grandchild; one brother, George Arthur and wife Cookie Massey of Bixby, Okla.; one brother in law, Calvin Laxton of Bethany, Okla.; two sister in laws, Rex Ann Massey of Harrah, Okla. and Wanda Massey of Oklahoma City and one aunt, Nova Landrith numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
