Alice Virginia Heffel's Obituary
Funeral Services for Alice Heffel, 93, will be 1:30 p.m., Friday, September 3, 2010 in the Fairview First United Methodist Church. The Rev. Rich Redinger will officiate. Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery under the direction of the Fairview Funeral Home, Inc.
Alice was born May 31, 1917 in Fairview, Oklahoma to George and Mary (Ratzlaff) Keck and died Tuesday, August 31, 2010 at the Fairview Fellowship Home.
Alice graduated from Fairview High School in 1935 and went to Wichita Kansas Business School studying book keeping and graduated with a Associated Degree in Business. On May 3, 1942 she married Edward Heffel in Fairview at the Methodist Church. Alice and Edward were the first couple to get married in the Newly built Methodist Church. Soon after they were blessed with two sons, Michael and John and one daughter Elizabeth.
Alice was a homemaker and enjoyed taking care of her children and working at the church. She belonged to many civic clubs including UMW, Eastern Star and Betterment Club. Alice loved to take care of the older people. Her granddaughter remembered going with her to the fellowship home to take the residents food and just spend time with them. A favorite past time after attending church on Sunday was joining family and friends at brother George's Feedlot II. Alice enjoyed sharing meals and conversation with those she loved. Her hobbies included traveling, stamp collecting, ceramics and family history. Her favorite season was spring and she enjoyed gardening and watching her wild flowers bloom. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend to all she knew.
Alice is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth and husband David Fuchs of Watonga, Oklahoma; a son, John and wife Barbara Heffel of New Brunsfield, Texas; a daughter in law, Patricia Heffel of Spring Branch, Texas; one brother, Geroge and wife Dorris Keck of Fairview, Oklahoma; four grandchildren, three great grandchildren, along with several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Edward Heffel, one son, Michael Heffel and one grandson, Sam.
Memorials may be made through the funeral home to the Fairview First United Methodist Church.
