Funeral Services for Allen Richard Wiens, 88, of Fairview, will be 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, August 19, 2008 at the Mennonite Brethren Church of Fairview, Oklahoma. The Pastor Brad Penner, Pastor Leonard Vogt and grandson Ben Schmidt will officiate. Burial will follow in the South Mennonite Brethren Cemetery. Arrangements are by Fairview Funeral Home, Inc.

Viewing will be Saturday August 16 from 9am to 5 p.m., Sunday August 17 from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. and Monday August 18 from 9 a.m. to 5.pm. at the Fairview Funeral Home

Allen Richard Wiens was born July 28, 1920 at Isabella, Oklahoma to Peter W. and Katherina (Bekker)
Wiens and passed away August 14, 2008 at the Fairview Regional Medical Center in Fairview, Oklahoma.

Richard lived with his family in Isabella and as a small child, they moved to California. They lived there for a short time and then returned to the family homestead at Isabella. He attended Homestead schools where he played football, softball and trombone. He married Marcella June Hamm on August 27, 1944 in Fairview at the South Mennonite Brethren Church. During World War II, he served with the Civilian Public Service. During that time, he and Marcella lived in Colorado Springs, Colorado. After the war, they once again returned to the Isabella farm. They were blessed with four children. Richard worked as a farmer and rancher most of his life. He was also a skilled carpenter. Richard worked at Progressive School for many years as custodian and bus driver. Many of the children on his bus remember him today. Richard was a kind and caring person and touched many lives. Richard and Marcella had 36 wonderful years together before her passing in 1981. Three years later Richard married Mary Lou Just and Richard's family grew with the addition of two more daughters, giving him six children. Richard and Mary Lou lived on the family farm where he remained until his last illness. He was a blessed man, having two wonderful marriages in his lifetime.

Richard was a longtime member of the Fairview Mennonite Brethren Church. Some of his hobbies were woodworking, which he took a lot of pride in, tinkering on anything and bowling. Richard loved to attend all of his grandchildren's sporting events. He also loved giving them rides on his four-wheeler. Richard loved his family tremendously and was proud of them all. His joy of life and his kindness and caring for his family and many friends will be greatly missed.

Richard is survived by his wife Mary Lou Wiens of Isabella; three sons, Richard and Terre Wiens of Bailey, Colorado, Reginald and Kathy Wiens of Talala, Oklahoma and Douglas and Debbie Wiens of Fairview; two daughters, Marguerite Kaye and Greg Schmidt of Newton, Kansas and Dianna Just of Vinita, Oklahoma; 15 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; Matt and Shannon Wiens and Anderson and Skyler; Jeff and Andrea Wiens and Michael, Scott, Ethan and Emma; Adam Wiens; Katie Wiens; Kelle Wiens; Eric and Natalie Wiens; Erin and Bart Rowlett and Braeden, Brenna and Blair; Eden and Jay Ensley and Hays; Amanda and Derek Peek; Sara and Austin Hurst and Emma and Ella; Ben and Alisa Schmidt and June; Brock Schmidt; Baxter Schmidt; Roxann Hanson and Angela Hanson.

His wife Marcella; three sisters, Elizabeth, Bertha, and Melinda; one brother, Alvin; daughter Dottie Hanson and mother-in-law Marguerite Hamm preceded him in death.
