Anita Esther Gifford's Obituary
Memorial Celebration of Life service for Anita Esther Gifford, 71, Fairview, will be at 3:00 P.M., Friday, January 6, 2017, at the 1st Church of the Nazarene in Fairview. Pastor Ricky Chance will officiate. Cremation arrangements are by Fairview Funeral Home Inc.
Anita Esther Gifford was born on November 30, 1945, at the family farm southwest of Isabella, Oklahoma to Frank and Esther Alice (Becker) Penner. She passed from this life January 2, 2017 at the age of 71, after a long illness.
Anita and her three brothers and four sisters grew up in the Isabella and Okeene communities. She learned at an early age to work hard. She milked cows and butchered chickens and learned to be a great cook. Anita graduated from Okeene High School with the Class of 1964 and then went to work in Enid for an accounting firm. She soon met and married Ed Gifford on October 22, 1965 and the couple was blessed with two daughters Cynthia and Angela.
Anita worked for Security National Bank in Enid, Oklahoma and then began her long career with the City of Fairview as the City Clerk and Treasurer. She remained there for 32 years and retired in 2011. Anita was a member of the Fairview First Church of the Nazarene and served 20 years on the church board. She loved bowling and was on a Wednesday night league for many years. Anita enjoyed painting with acrylics and was a talented baker. Many requested her cinnamon rolls and hot rolls. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers; Lynn and Julian Penner, son-in-law, Rex Moore and nephew Michael Nobis.
Those left to cherish her memory are; her daughters, Angela Kay Grammer and husband Jerry of Catalina, Arizona, Cynthia Suzanne Moore of Fairview, two grandchildren, Alton and Rachael Grammer of Okeene, and Lindsey Grammer of Catalina, Arizona, two great-grandchildren; Jeremiah Joseph Lane Grammer and Charles Dean Grammer of Okeene, OK, one brother Larry Penner of Isabella, OK, four sisters; Violet Eggers of Fairmont, OK, Patsy Nobis, Jane Hamil and Lois Hicks all of Enid, sister-in-law, Sandra Penner of Tulsa, OK and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Memorial donations can be made to the Fairview Nazarene Church and OMRF-Cancer Division.
