Obituary

Funeral Services for Arthur Lee Curby, 84, of Orienta, will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, June 15, 2009 at the Saron Mennonite Church in Orienta, Oklahoma. The Reverend Arnold Curby will officiate. Burial will follow in the Saron Mennonite Cemetery, Orienta. Arrangements are by Fairview Funeral Home, Inc.

Viewing will be Sunday, June 14 from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Fairview Funeral Home Inc. .
Arthur Lee Curby was born March 24, 1925 in Olney, Texas to John Gorman Curby and Catherine Surena (Blackwood) Curby and passed away Friday, June 12, 2009, at his home near Orienta, Oklahoma.

Arthur Lee Curby was born March 24, 1925 in Olney, Texas to John Gorman Curby and Catherine Surena (Blackwood) Curby and passed away Friday, June 12, 2009, at his home near Orienta, Oklahoma.
Arthur Lee Curby grew up in Texas, living in several different places until settling in San Antonio, Texas. He served in the United States Navy during World War II. Arthur married Mary Rollins on May 10, 1952 in Beeville, Texas. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War and received an honorable discharge in September of 1952. He then began a career in the Civil Service for the United States Air Force in San Antonio Texas where he served as a warehouse foreman, retiring in 1973. In 1979 he and Mary moved to Livingston, Texas where they lived until they moved to Oklahoma on March 1, 1993.
Arthur was a member of the Saron Mennonite Church of Orienta. He enjoyed fishing and jigsaw puzzles. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who will be missed by his family and friends.
Arthur is survived by wife Mary Curby of Orienta; two sons, Arthur Leon Curby and wife Federica, of Cypress, Texas, Arnold Curby and wife Grace, of Orienta; daughter in law Jannet Thomas, of Plano, Texas; one brother, Dell Curby, of Beeville, Texas; one sister, Ollie Webb, of Winters, Texas; 10 grandchildren; Laurie Pibil and husband Ted of Maryland, Michael Thomas and wife Kate of Oregon, Kris Thomas of Maine, Hannah Curby of Italy, Nathan Curby of Virginia, Charissa Curby, Levi Curby, and Caleb Curby all of Oklahoma, Erin Curby and Christopher Curby both of Texas, also 5 great-grandchildren; Justyn Pibil, Jordan Pibil, Jarek Pibil, Jacen Pibil and Owen Thomas, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son Arthur Gene Thomas; grandson Aaron Michael Curby; two sisters and three brothers.
Memorials may be made to Avant Ministries for Hannah Curby with Fairview Funeral Home, Inc. acting as custodian.
