Memorial Services for Beryl Karl Barnard, 64, of Fairview, will be 1:30 p.m., Thursday, January 3, 2013 at the First Baptist Church of Fairview. The Reverend David Mendenhall and Kris Ewbank will officiate. A private family burial will be before the memorial service. Arrangements are by Fairview Funeral Home, Inc.

Beryl Karl Barnard was born January 24, 1948 in Enid, Oklahoma to Coy and Ruby (Gosney) Barnard and passed away December 27, 2012 at Fairview Regional Medical Center.
Beryl was raised on the family farm west of Fairview. He attended Roscoe and Orienta schools in his early years and then attended Fairview Public Schools, graduating from Fairview High School in 1966. Beryl married Carolyn Jean Wichert on November 22, 1968 at the Cedar Springs Church of the Nazarene. The couple lived in Stillwater while Beryl finished college, graduating from Oklahoma State University in 1970 with a Bachelors of Science in Agricultural Economics. Beryl and Carolyn returned to their hometown of Fairview. A "desk" job just didn't suit Beryl. He loved the outdoors; he loved the land. He went to work for Gary Just's plumbing and electric business and started a farming operation. Farming was a true joy for him; he always sought new farming methods and enjoyed staying current with agricultural news and markets. Beryl was also in the National Guard. Later, Beryl worked for Major County Rural Water and then with Mike Ewing in B&E Services.
Beryl and Carolyn were blessed with two children, Randall and JaNae. Beryl was a loving father and supported his children in every way possible. He attended all their activities, was a member of the FFA Boosters and loved spending time with all the FFA members at stock shows, parliamentary procedure and speech contests, and trips to National and State FFA Convention. Beryl was very involved with the Cedar Springs Church of the Nazarene where he served as a church board member and a youth leader. Beryl was the Building Chairman for the church's building expansion in the late 1980's.
Beryl enjoyed being active in the community, volunteering whenever possible. He was a board member for Fairview Public Schools from 1989 to 2004. One of his favorite projects during his tenure on the board was moving the Progressive Gym to the Chamberlain Middle School.
After suffering a stroke in April of 2007, Beryl made his residence at Fairview Fellowship Home. He constantly worked to keep his mind active and stay connected with friends outside the nursing home. One of his life's priorities was witnessing for God, a calling even stronger once inside Fairview Fellowship Home. This prompted him to spend time visiting with other residents and sharing with those who cared for him.
He is survived by his son, Randall Barnard, and daughter, JaNae Barnard, both of Fairview. He was preceded in death by a brother, Coy Eugene; his parents, Coy and Ruby; and his wife, Carolyn.
Memorials may be made to the Fairview Fellowship Home – Activities Department with Fairview Funeral Home acting as custodian.
