Heaven truly gained a beautiful soul on December 26, 2018.  A memorial service for Betty Mae Wallace will be 2:00 pm, Saturday, January 12, 2019, at Saron Mennonite Church with Pastor Arnold Curby officiating.  Arrangements are by Fairview Funeral Home Inc.

Betty was born in Fairview, Oklahoma to Arthur and Jossie Martin.  As a young child she lived in the Fairview/Longdale areas until 1952 when her family relocated to Stockton, California.  She grew up in the Stockton/Lodi area but graduated at Plymouth, California.  While attending high school, she met Milton "Tom" Wallace whom she later married on January 18, 1961.  Betty and Tom lived briefly in Stockton after their marriage.  She was a telephone operator during that time.  They later relocated to Rockford, Illinois where two sons were born, Thomas Craig and Curtis Bruce.  Awhile later they briefly moved once more to Stockton where Trace Edmund was born.  The couple was determined that they didn't want to raise their family in California.  In the spring of 1968 they purchased a C-2 Gleaner combine, sight unseen, and moved to Fairview, Oklahoma and began a custom harvesting business along with the help of Betty's uncle, Jack Berry.  For the next fourteen years, summers and falls were spent following the wheat, corn and milo, as a family, from Southern Oklahoma all the way to Montana and back.  The winters and early springs Betty was a homemaker, raising her sons, while also working part time as a school bus driver, newspaper delivery, assistant to the Major County Treasurer's Office and even hauling rock for area farmers with one of the harvest trucks, all while preparing for the next harvest season.

Betty always made herself available to care for relatives when the need would arise, whether she was sitting with them in the hospital or helping to care for them at home.  When her children grew up and married she was right there to help care for her grandchildren anytime she was called upon, night or day.

Betty accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and was baptized by Pastor Donald Roberts at the Fairview Mennonite Brethren Church.  She loved to hear Marvin Martens sing in church and her favorite hymn was "How Great Thou Art."  It was her passion to give all her family a spiritual upbringing to know the Lord.  The Christmas Eve services at church were very important to her and she loved her family to attend with her and then have family Christmas where they enjoyed her famous "Chicken and Dumplins."

She taught all her children and grandchildren a good work ethic where you earn "what you want" so they would appreciate and care for it.  It didn't matter if it was to go swimming at the Carmen pool or to buy special clothes for school or buying that first vehicle.

Her marriage to Tom spanned a loving 57 years and 11 months.

She is survived by her husband Tom, of the home, two sons Curtis and wife Patricia of Fairview, Trace and wife Patricia of Enid; eleven grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren.

Betty was preceded in death by one son, Thomas, her father Arthur Martin in World War II, her mother and step father, Clint and Jossie Wettengel, brother, Robert Wettengel, daughter in law Daisy Wallace, grand-daughter in law Audrey Wallace, her grandparents and several aunts and uncles.

In lieu of flowers Betty requested memorials may be made to Mennonite Central Committee U.S. with the funeral home handling the funds.
