Funeral Services for Bobbie W. Jackson, 83 of Longdale, will be held 10:00 a.m., Thursday, December 16, 2010, at the Cedar Springs Church of the Nazarene in Cedar Springs, Oklahoma. The Reverends Randy Weaver and Terry Schakelaar will officiate. Arrangements are by Fairview Funeral Home, Inc.

Visitation will be at the Fairview Funeral Home, Inc. on Wednesday, December 15, from 9am – 8pm.

Bobbie was born July 22, 1927 in Fairview, Oklahoma to Myron Andrew and Nellie (Graves) Jackson and passed away, Monday, December 13, 2010 at his home in Longdale, Oklahoma.

Bobbie attended school in Fairview until the 8th grade then joined the U.S. Army in 1944 at the end of WWII. In 1948, he married Louise Fortune in Fairview, upstairs over the old Fire Department. After they were married, they moved to Texas where Bobbie was stationed. For the next 21 years they traveled all over the United States and Germany, moving from assignment to assignment. As they moved their family grew. While stationed in New York, Bobbie was assigned to the Post Honor Guard. He served during three wars and was awarded the Purple Heart and Bronze Star during the Philippine Liberation in WWII. He also served in the Korean War. Most of his 21 year career Bobbie served as an MP. 1 May 1960, Bobbie was promoted to the rank of Master Sergeant (E-8) and November 1, 1965, he retired from the Army receiving his final honorable discharge. After he retired, they settled in Wichita, Kansas for a few years and then moved to Fairview in 1969, where the last child was added to the family. Bobbie was employed by the City of Fairview, serving as a police officer and finally with the water department, retiring after 20 years.

Together Bobbie and Louise loved fishing, bowling, hunting and playing pool. Bobbie and Louise have many bowling trophies.

Bobbie is survived by his; three sons, Ronnie Dean and wife Toni of Wichita, Kansas, Ricky Lynn and wife Kerri of Ringwood, Oklahoma, Dwight Myron and wife Brenda of Longdale, Oklahoma; two daughters, Donnita Murray and husband Mike of Canton, Oklahoma and Tammy Jo Swanson and husband Chad of Fairview, Oklahoma; nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren, along with a host of other family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Louise; three brothers, Myron D, George and Bill; 2 sisters, Maxine and Ruth.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Legion with Fairview Funeral Home, Inc. serving as custodian of the funds.
