Cam M. Steele II, 85, died July 9, 2019, at his home in Fairview, Oklahoma.  Cam was gifted with the gift of gab, an enthusiastic foodie and a lover of good bourbon.  Most of all, Cam was a devoted husband and father of the family.

Cam was born July 1, 1934 in Hominy, Oklahoma to William and Inez Steele.  In his early teenage years, the family moved to Fairfax, Oklahoma where Cam met a young lady named Wah-Leeta Smith that definitely caught his attention.  After graduating from high school, Cam enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in the 82 nd Airborne.  Following his military service, Cam attended and graduated from Oklahoma State University.

In September 1957, Cam married his high school sweetheart Wah-Leeta Smith.  Initially, the couple lived in Memphis, Tennessee where their first son, Cam M. Steele III (Monty), was born in 1959.  In 1961, Cam and the family moved to Fairview, Oklahoma and in 1964 their second son, D. Strawn Steele, was born.  Cam enjoyed quail hunting and playing golf with friends and family for many years.  Cam would always enjoy playing a game of poker from time to time with friends as well.

Cam is survived by his wife of 61+ years, Wah-Leeta; son Cam M. Steele III (Monty) and his wife, Stephanie of Norman, Oklahoma; son D. Strawn Steele of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; sister Roberta Bunch of Redondo Beach, California; 6 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren. Cam was preceded in death by his parents; 3 sisters; and 1 brother.

A memorial gathering will be held at the Fairview Funeral Home in Fairview, Oklahoma between 2:00 and 4:00 on July 27, 2019.

In lieu of plants or flowers, donations may be made in memory of Cam to the Wounded Warriors Project, Boys Town or the Central Christian Church in Fairview, Oklahoma.
