Obituary

Celebration of Life for Carla Rae (Doane) Schultz, 63, will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, November 4, 2023 at the First Baptist Church in Okeene, Oklahoma, followed by burial in Homestead Cemetery.  Paster Gaylon Cox will officiate.  Arrangements are by Fairview Funeral Home, Inc.

Carla Rae Doane came into this world as the first-born daughter of BG (Bud) and Carlene (Smith) Doane on November 6, 1959.  Following her, came Becky, Roger, Laura, Barbara, and Ross.  Carla grew up living in several states as her father found work, giving her an understanding of people for her future musical endeavors.  Carla graduated from Greenfield High School in 1978 as Valedictorian with numerous honors and club affiliations.  Later on, she received her Associates Degree in Criminal Management at Redlands Community College in El Reno, Oklahoma.

Carla met the love of her life, Brent, at Roman Nose State Park while he was a park ranger and she was the Activities Director for the park.  They married on April 25th, 1981 at her home church, the First Baptist Church of Greenfield, and have been happily enjoying life and each other for over 42 years.  They made their home on the Schultz family farm south of Okeene, where they raised their four children: Cara, Leah, Nina, and Jacob, teaching them the love of God, family, and country life.  And though Carla originally wanted to become a doctor or pursue a musical career, she decided to raise her family and incorporate her music locally, to her family and friends delight.

Carla left this world on October 21st, 2023, and was greeted by her parents and two siblings, who had gone before her. Those of us who remain behind - her husband, children and their significant others, grandchildren, brothers and sisters, and many other relatives and friends - know that someday we will see Carla again and hear the music she so joyfully sang and played.
