Funeral services for Carlene Ruth Remer, 79, of Fairview, will be 2 pm, Monday, January 18, 2021 at the Fairview First Baptist Church with burial in the Fairview Cemetery. Arrangements by Fairview Funeral Home Inc.
Carlene Ruth (Smith-Doane) Remer was born in Thomas on January 22, 1941 to Ruby and Carl Smith, and departed this world January, 12, 2021 at the age of 79, in her home in Fairview, OK.
She enjoyed family and married B.G Doane on September 22, 1958. Together they raised 6 children. She took a ride with B.G., a former marine and traveled the country. Carla Rae was born in Enid, OK before Fairview had a hospital. Rebecca Lynn was born in Glendale, CA. Roger Grant was born in Great Bend, KS while visiting extended family and he should have been a Texan. Laura Kay was born in Nebraska and Barbara Ranae in New Mexico. The youngest, Ross Wayne Doane was born in Clinton, OK while the family lived in Thomas, OK.
Carlene would play cards, read love stories and cook good food. She held annual Christmas scavenger hunts for grandchildren and hosted spectacular events. Girls Day Out was a family tradition during the holidays that started with her four daughters and grew to near fifteen children and grandchildren this year.
She served as a State Auditor for Roman Nose State Park and founded the M.A.G.B. Senior Service agency in 1983 and served as director for more than 25 years. Carlene loved life and a big family. She married ED Remer on June 12, 2004 in Fairview, OK. After Ed's passing, she was widowed again. She remained a member of the First Baptist Church in Fairview, OK and helped cook on Wednesday night meals. She was a prayer warrior and strong Christian. She was always the star of the show. In the Fairview nursing home, she appeared on Channel 5 news doing the hula dance and was pictured on a water slide. She was a special lady, fun, loving and caring.
She leaves behind Carla and Brent Schultz of Okeene, Kenny Carmack of Fairview, Laura and Jeff Hutton of Canton, Barbara and James Wedel of Fairview and Ross and Lynn Doane of Homestead. Her grandchildren; Cara and Cody Day of Okeene, OK, Lean Schultz, Nina and Chris McGraw of Woodward and Jacob and Amanda Schultz of Canton. Carlinda and Chris Thornton of Woodward, Kendra Griffin of Fairview, Kaylene and Rico Rivera and Brittany Hutton and Josh Law all at Weatherford, Sandra and Mandy Hutton of Seiling, Jamie and Jenni Wedel of Fairview and Kenzie and Kelsie of Homestead. There are 19 great grandchildren. Carlene is also survived by 1 brother Eddie Smith and 1 sister Linda Stone. Her brother Phillip Andrew (Andy) left her with her sister –in law Vivian Smith.
She was preceded in death by her Mother and father Ruby and Carl Smith two husbands B. G Doane and Ed Remer, daughter Rebecca Carmack and son Roger Doane and one brother Andrew Phillip Smith. She had said before she passed away, that she would see them again in heaven. Well done my good and faithful servant.
