Charles H. Thompson, Jr. passed away on January 10, 2021.  He was born June 17, 1929, in Fairview, Oklahoma, the son of Charles H. Thompson, Sr. and Edith Marshall Thompson.  He graduated from high school in Stillwater, Oklahoma, and from Oklahoma State University with a Bachelor of Architecture.  He was awarded a silver medal from the Société des Architects Diplômés par le Groupe Americain in a national design competition of the Beaux-Arts Institute of Design.

Charles practiced architecture in Beaumont for over 60 years.  He acted as principal in the firm of TeVault & Thompson, President of the firm of George Ingram and Associates, Inc., and as principal and chairman of Architectural Alliance Firm.  Later Charles joined the firm of Sigma Engineers as the principal architect, where they designed notable buildings such as the Convention and Visitor's Bureau for the City of Beaumont, Foundation for Southeast Texas Building, Teachers' Credit Union on Dowlen Road, the Albert E. and Gena Reaud Guest House, and the Anayat House in Beaumont.

Charles was also a wonderful artist and enjoyed donating his much sought-after watercolor paintings for auction to benefit several local charities.

He served as a member of the American Institute of Architects, Southeast Chapter, the Downtown Rotary Club, the Art Museum of Southeast Texas, and served on the Beaumont Board of Adjustments.  His personal affiliations included membership in Trinity United Methodist Church, Sigma Nu fraternity, and the Beaumont Country Club.

Charles is survived by his sister Diane Sturdivant of Orange, Texas, his brother James Marshall Thompson, of Florida, nieces Wendy and Janet Thompson, and nephew James M. Thompson.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Ann Kesner Thompson, and his father and mother.

He was a loving husband, son, brother and a great mentor to many in the business of architecture.  He will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and colleagues.

Memorial contributions for Mr. Thompson may be made to an organization of one's choice.

Cremation arrangements for Mr. Thompson were handled through Broussard's Crematorium, under the direction of Broussard's, 2000 McFaddin Avenue, Beaumont.

Burial will be under the guidance of the Fairview Funeral Home Inc in the Fairview Cemetery on June 11, 2022
