Funeral Services for Claire Lafayette Hubble, 88, of Fairview, will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, June 19, 2008 at the Fairview First Church of the Nazarene in Fairview, Oklahoma. The Reverend Chuck McKinney will officiate. Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery. Arrangements are by Fairview Funeral Home, Inc.

Viewing will be at the Fairview Funeral Home, Inc., Tuesday 9:00 to 5:00 p.m. and Wednesday 9:00 to 5:00 p.m. and at the church prior to the service.

Claire was born January 26, 1920 on a farm 3 miles west of Fairview on what is now the Burrell Implement Co. His parents were Winford Ernest "Ernie" and Maude (Parker) Hubble. He died on June 15, 2008 at Fairview Regional Medical Center in Fairview, Oklahoma after to a long fight with emphysema.

He grew up on a farm adjoining the west edge of Fairview, and graduated from Fairview High School in 1937. Then he enlisted in the Army in 1941 and served four years in The U.S. Army Air Corp. He married Laura Adeline Montgomery in June 1942, while in the service. After his discharge, they moved to a farm one mile west of Fairview, farmed, and raised cattle. In June 1950, he married Ella Rena Koehn from Isabella. They were married 33 ½ years and raised six children together. The both loved to farm, raise cattle together, and had many baby calves on the bottle. They were divorced January 1984. Claire then married Peggy Lou Guffey in July 1984 and it ended November 1991. Claire was fortunate that he could live the kind of life that he enjoyed the most, which was farming and raising cattle.

He was assistant Boy Scout Master of Troup 125 for several years while his sons were young. He served on the Board of Directors of the Sooner Co-op for three years during which time they built the concrete elevator in Fairview. He was a member of the Major County Selective Service Board for 14 years and was a member of the American Legion King Hagen Post #51 for 64 years. On February 24, 1983, he was presented a 10K gold life membership card by the Legion Post. He was very proud to be a member of King Hagen Post #51 and was quite active in it for over 40 years, serving as Commander twice and most of the other offices at least once. He belongs to the Major County Genealogical Society and the State Genealogical Society's First Family's of the Twin Territories, the Major County Historical Society, Oklahoma Wheat Growers Association and the Oklahoma Cattlemen's Association and a life time honorary member of the Fairview Wranglers.

Claire joined the Central Christian Church when he was 14 years old and attended this church for many years. In later years, he was baptized and attended the Fairview First Church of the Nazarene for several years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, one sister and his oldest son, Lonnie, and Zoi, his best friend, companion and pet for 10 years.

He is survived by one son, Wayne Hubble and wife Tammy'; four daughters, Marilyn Dobrinski and husband Mark of Fairview, Linda Taylor of Norman, Connie Parr and husband Bob of Nash, Carol Hubble of Fairview; daughter-in-law Barbara Hubble of Fairview; 16 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and former wife Ella Rena Hubble. .

Memorials may be made through Fairview Funeral Home Inc to the Fairview First Church of the Nazarene, American Legion Post #51 or Fairview Circle of Love Hospice.
