A memorial service for Clarence Alton Pettitt, 63, will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday, February 13, 2010 at the Fairview Funeral Home, Inc., Chapel in Fairview. Rev. David Mendenhall will officiate. Arrangements are by Fairview Funeral Home, Inc.

Clarence Alton Pettitt Jr. was born December 4, 1946 in Amarillo, Texas and came to live with his adopted parents Clarence Alton and Doris Fae (Shafer) Pettitt and passed away February 7, 2010 at Fairview Fellowship Home in Fairview, Oklahoma after a long battle with cancer.

C.A. lived with his parents in Spearman, Texas until the age of three when he moved with his mother to Fairview, Oklahoma. C.A.'s mother married Harold E. McKinnis in 1961 and they all moved to Southgate, California, which was a suburb of Los Angeles. C.A. graduated from Whitney High School in Los Angeles and then attended Cerritos Community College for the next two years. He was trained and certified as a armed Security Guard and worked as such for the Bureau of Security and Investigative Services. As a Armed Security Guard he worked for many banks in the area. C.A. met Deanna Miller at one of the banks where he worked and they fell in love. The couple were married June 10th, 1979 in Pasadena, California. With his new wife he also gained a stepson Stephen. The couple were married for 26 years when his wife Deanna passed away on December 30, 2005. C.A. retired in December 2008 and he moved to Fairview January 1, 2009 to be with his mother. C.A. was active in the Lakewood Ave. Congregation Church while he lived in California.

C.A. is survived by his mother Doris McKinnis, stepson Stephen and his wife of California, stepbrother Jerry McKinnis and wife Sharon of Las Vegas, cousins Carla and Tommy Miller of Moore, Oklahoma and Michael and Jeannine Shafer of Ringwood, Oklahoma.

C.A. was preceded in death by his father, stepfather Harold E. McKinnis, his wife Deanna, his uncle and aunt Erldean and Alice Shafer, and cousin Mark Shafer.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to the Oklahoma Medical Research cancer division.
