Clarence Eugene (Jack) Pembrook, was born March 9, 1925, West of Fairview, Oklahoma to George A. and Susie May (Boley) Pembrook, and went to be with his Lord and Savior on April 30, 2013, at the age of 88.
He was raised in a Christian home, growing up during the depression in a family with six boys. Life was busy and he worked hard helping with chores around the farm. He attended Tucker and Cheyenne Valley schools.
On February 7, 1946, he married Lorene Alice Fortune in Fairview, Oklahoma. They were blessed with four boys, Gary, Lonnie, Russell, and Mike. Jack worked many years as a carpenter, helping to build the Seiling High School, as well as many fine homes in the area. Jack and Lorene owned the Apple Grove Store from 1952-1964, where he enjoyed seeing his many friends and neighbors. They later owned Pembrook Grocery in Fairview from 1972-1975.
His favorite occupation was ranching, raising Angus cattle in the beautiful hills North of Orion and selling bulls to area cattlemen.
Some of his hobbies were fishing with his wife Lorene at his farm ponds, vegetable gardening, tending his fruit trees, creating things out of wood, visiting with his friends, and helping his neighbors and family. One of his greatest joys was being with his family. He loved telling them stories of his life and giving them advice and encouragement. His grandchildren and great grandchildren always loved climbing up in his lap so Grandpa could read them a story.
He will be remembered for his contagious laughter, his positive attitude, and his practical wisdom.
He accepted the Lord Jesus as his Savior and was baptized into the Orion Baptist Church, where he served on many boards, as well as the church building committee. He was actively involved with the Fairview FFA chapter. He was also a member of the FFA Booster Club and received the Honorary Chapter Farmer Degree.
His beloved wife passed away on September 6, 2011. During his illness, he spent many hours in Bible reading and prayer, often sharing his love for the Lord with his doctors, nurses, and everyone he met.
He will be greatly missed by his three sons and their wives, Lonnie and LaDonna Pembrook, Russell and Melissa Pembrook, Mike and Amy Pembrook; two brothers, Harley and Orvin; 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Lorene; a son, Gary; a sister, Clara; three brothers, Walt, Ray, and J.W.; and one granddaughter, Gina Pembrook.
