Clarice Glo Dow's Obituary
Funeral Services for Clarice Glo Dow, 76, will be 2:30 p.m., Saturday, February 26, 2011 at the Elm Grove Community Church northwest of Chester with burial to follow at the Orion Cemetery. The Reverend Orville White will officiate.
Clarice Glo Dow was born April 20, 1934 to William T. and Gertrude Helen (Hurt) Boston on the family farm near Longdale. She attended Longdale School through the 8th grade and graduated from Fairview High School in 1952.
Clarice married Victor Nile Dow on June 12, 1952 at the Midway Assembly of God Church. After the wedding they stayed in the Fairview area and spent two winters in Wichita, Kansas where he worked at the Boeing plant. During the summers they returned to Oklahoma where they farmed watermelons near Midway and Chester. They were blessed with two children. In 1956 the family returned to Oklahoma full time. Clarice was a homemaker for several years until the children were older, then she began working at Jensen's in 1969-1970 as a bookkeeper for three years. She then worked for the Fairview Sale Barn as a bookkeeper for a few years. Clarice began working for the United States Government as a statistician for 15 years. In her spare time she sold Avon for a while. After retirement Clarice returned to being a housewife and assisted on the farm.
Clarice enjoyed attending yard sales, collecting knickknacks and repairing jewelry. She was a member of the Orion Homemakers Club. Clarice loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is survived by one son, Douglas and wife Brenda Dow and one daughter, Sheila and husband Ed Short; three grandchildren, Justin and Kim Dow, Josh and Danna Dow, Tony and Melissa Short; and seven great grandchildren, Jaden, Ian , Ayden, and Hadlea Dow, Shelby, Hadynn and Hunter Short.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Victor (Vic) and one brother William Boston.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Disabled American Veterans with the Fairview Funeral Home, Inc. acting as custodian.
