Memorial Graveside Services for Stanley Forsyth, age 90, will be held at 10:30 am, on Saturday, June 28, 2008 Brandon cemetery in Brandon. Iowa. Pastors Brian Poad and Ryan Reese will be conducting the service. Arrangements are by Fairview Funeral Home, Inc.
Stanley was born on April 23, 1918, in Benton County, Iowa to Fred and Maude Wayson Forsyth and died on June 20. 2008 at the Fairview Regional Medical Center in Fairview Oklahoma. He attended Harrison #1 country school, as well as schools in Jesup and Cedar Rapids. He attended 11th and 12th grade at Brandon where he was very competitive in Baseball and Basketball while in school. While attending Brandon school he met the love of his life Lola Mae Stainbrook and in 1938, they were married.
They lived most of their lives in the Brandon area, where their entire family enjoyed showing horses throughout eastern Iowa. Stanley farmed for many years. He also was a Watkins product salesperson for 12 years, and with for Standard oil for 14 years. However, he was not all work and no play. Stan and Lola loved taking their annual fishing trips to Canada for many years. After they retired, they loved to travel the United States and visit their kids. They spent 19 winters together as snowbirds at Four Seasons in Texas. Stanley lost his beloved wife Lola in 1996. He spent another seven winters in Zapata, Texas, where he met Laura Knutsen, his friend and companion. With Laura he spent many nights filled with music and dancing.
Stanley is survived by his children: Denny Forsyth and wife Barb of Green River, Wyoming; Donna Prentice and husband Bud of Ashland City, Tennessee; Darla Voth and husband John of Fairview, Oklahoma; David Forsyth and Callie also of Fairview. Oklahoma. Stanley has 13 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.
