Obituary

Funeral Service for Clifford Doyle Gibson, 86, is schedules for 1:00 pm, Saturday, March 14, 2020 at the Isabella Church of the Nazarene, Isabella, Oklahoma, with burial in Isabella Cemetery following the funeral.  Arrangements are by Fairview Funeral Home Inc.

On Monday, March 9, 2020, Clifford Doyle Gibson, loving husband and father of seven children, passed on to his eternal home to meet his Lord and Savior, join those gone before and await those to come. He passed peacefully at home with family.

Clifford was born on January 26, 1934 in Weleetka, OK. He was raised in that area for most of his childhood where he played baseball, hunted and fished with his friends and relatives. Clifford married Imogene Shatswell in 1952 and proudly remained so their entire lives. They gratefully raised seven children together. Clifford remained an avid outdoors-man, fisherman and camper and shared that love with his family. He always maintained a close and loving relationship with all his children / grandchildren, and greatly missed his wife after her passing in 2013.

Clifford worked in several industries before settling into diesel mechanics. He worked for Permian Oil Comp any beginning in Burkbumett, TX and then to Carmen, OK (including a brief stint with Earlsboro Oil & Gas). He retired from Permian while residing in Guthrie, OK and subsequently moved to Keystone Lake in Mannford, OK to pursue his interests in fishing and family. While in Carmen, Clifford volunteered as a part-time police officer for the town, which he thoroughly enjoyed and was much admired and remembered for his remarkable ability to uphold the law while being practical, kind and considerate of all the people young and old from that community. In many ways Clifford considered Carmen, OK his hometown, as he raised most of his children there. He enjoyed volunteering to work for the city whenever time permitted. He was known for his creative "handyman " skills, friendly demeanor and helpful nature with all his neighbors. Clifford loved to laugh and was never opposed to a telling or hearing a good joke. He was also not opposed to stretching the truth occasionally to make for a good telling of a fishing story.

Clifford is preceded in death by: his wife Imogene (Shatswell) Gibson, father Cecil Gibson, mother Birdie (Crawford) Gibson and sister Jean Wise.

He is survived by his sisters: Judy McCain, Peggy Malone and Gail Mathews as well as his seven children, 18 grand-children, 24 great grand-children and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

"Daddy" will be lovingly missed and remembered by his seven children: Wayne Gibson of Fairview,OK; Carol and Rick Smith of Gulf Breeze, FL; Karen Sue Gratner of Fairview, OK; Barbara and John Sproul of Isabella, OK; Tommy and Janet Gibson of Austin, TX; Kim and Darrell Smith of Moore, OK; and Lisa Secondine of Ft Walton Beach, FL.

On behalf of the family, we would like to thank all those of who have kindly been a p art of our father's life and welcome you to come celebrate that life with us.
