Funeral Services for Darrell Lynn Custer, of Fairview, will be at 1:30 p.m., Friday, January 24, 2020 at the Elm Grove Community Church.  Burial will follow in the Bethel Cemetery.  Arrangements are by Fairview Funeral Home, Inc.

Darrell Lynn Custer was born August 28, 1953 in Wichita, Kansas, to Reed Morse and Mary Margaret (Linden) Custer and was called home by his heavenly father on January 18, 2020 at Integris Bass Baptist Health Center in Enid Oklahoma.

Darrell grew up in Wichita and at a young age moved to Andover where he attended school.  He joined the United States Air Force in 1972, and was stationed at Carswell AFB, Texas.  After his tour of duty, he was Honorably Discharged and returned to home.  He completed welding class and became a certified welder.  He worked for many years as a welder and painter.  He then went to work for the U.S. Corps of Engineers at Tulsa District and was a core drilling operator.  Later he worked for the Corps of Engineers in Canton as a Heavy Equipment operator and welder as needed.  He worked in many different locations during career with the Core of Engineers.  He received an early retirement in 2009 as his health declined.

Darrell met Araceli D. Berganos, who was born in the Philippines and lived in Ontario Canada.  After a long-distance courtship for many years, Darrell married Araceli on September 4, 1999 at Elm Grove Community Church and made their home in Fairview.  In March of 2000 they moved to Grove Oklahoma for a short time and returned to Fairview because of his mother's failing health.  In March of 2001 they were blessed with their son Reed.

Darrell loved the outdoors.  He loved scuba diving, fishing, gardening and spending time with his son.  He had a fruit orchard at their house that he loved to ride the scooter in.  But he also loved to can the fresh fruit as well as cooking.  Darrell also enjoyed motor cycles and in the late 1970's he began riding.  He was a member of the American Bikers Aiming Towards Education (ABATE) of Northwest 69 club.  He rode for 15 years.  Darrell was loved by all who know him and will be truly missed.

Darrell is survived by his wife Araceli D. Berganos Custer and son Reed Domingo Custer of the home, his sister Pam Warner of Seiling, Oklahoma, two brothers, Michael Lee Custer and Wife Theresa of Burden, Kansas, Ronald Dean Custer and his wife Darla of Grove, Oklahoma, and many nieces and nephews and cousins to numerous to name.

His parents and brother-in-law Joe Warner preceded him in death.
