David Michael Hamen, Sr., 73, of Cleo Springs, OK died Sunday, May 31 st , 2020. Services will be held Thursday, June 4 th at 10:30 am in the St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Okeene, OK. Burial will follow at Square Cedar Cemetery, Cleo Springs. There will be a family visitation at Fairview Funeral Home from 5-7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 3 rd . Arrangements are by Fairview Funeral Home Inc..
David was born March 16, 1947 in Enid, OK to Emil and Phyllis (Heffron) Hamen. He married Rose Anne Schilling on July 22, 1970. David served in the army for 2 years. During this time, he was stationed in Germany. Following his time in the army, he worked numerous jobs. He worked for Major County District #1 for 35 years before his retirement in 2013. After his retirement, David enjoyed helping his son-in-law during the summers with wheat harvest which reminded him of his earlier days of going North custom harvesting. He was a devoted volunteer of the Boy Scouts of America for many years and received multiple awards for his contributions to the organization. David also enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards, and most of all spending time with family. He gave everyone a hard time and always had a story to tell.
David is survived by his wife, Rose Anne of the home; four children, David Michael Hamen, Jr. and wife Jennifer of Fairview, OK, Daren Hamen and wife Hope of Cleo Springs, OK, Joy Nightengale and husband Micah of Fairview, OK, Dustin Hamen and wife Tanya of Cleo Springs, OK; nine grandchildren, Chesnei Price and husband Dillon, Micah Beckwith and husband Joe, Kara Hamen, Morgan Hamen, Jeffrey Nightengale, Macy Nightengale, Carly Hamen, Danni Hamen, and Dakota Hamen; two great grandchildren Denton and Camdyn Price; brothers, J.B. Hamen and wife Stella of Cleo Springs, Jimmy Hamen and wife Barbara of Cleo Springs; one sister Norma Naugle of Enid, OK; brothers-in-law Harold Schilling of Paola, Ks and Gerald Schilling and wife Helen of Evansville, Wyoming; sisters-in-law, Marj Even and husband Don of Lemmon, SD, Carol McConnell of Rapid City, SD, LaVonne Skretteberg and husband Loron of Carson, ND; many nieces, nephews, and friends.
David is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Charles and Richard Hamen; sister, Mary Wampler and 2 infant sisters.
Memorials may be made to Cleo Springs Emergency Response Association or Cimarron Council with memo David Hamen, with Fairview Funeral Home serving as custodian of funds.
