Celebration of Life for David Richard Wymer, 67. of Fairview, will be 10:30 am, Saturday, February 22, 2020 at the Fairview Central Christian Church.  Arrangements are by Fairview Funeral Home Inc.

David was born the second son of Cecil Ellsworth and Madgline Esther Gooch Wymer on March 10, 1952, in Enid, Oklahoma.  His older brother by four years, John Robert Wymer, spent time fishing and hunting with his younger brother.  His parents opened their home to Gloria Vogt as their daughter.  David attended the Fairview School System.

On February 18, 2020, David Richard Wymer from Fairview, Oklahoma, left this earth for a healthy new beginning with his Heavenly Father and joined his parents and older brother.

David began work early as a teenager, his first job was at the Royal Theatre.  He then pumped gas at the service station on the north end of town and worked for a time at the Fairview Funeral Home.

He took great pride in his community and became a servant of the people as a police officer on the Fairview Police Department.

He then took a job as a deputy for the Major County Sheriff's Office, and drove a school bus on the side.

On suggestion from his doctor, he took a less stressful position as the Activity Bus Driver for Fairview Public Schools and spent an average of 70  hours a week on the road driving the band, all sports activities, and class trips.  1994 David was honored by the Fairview Schools and presented with a letterman jacket, plague and made Homecoming Parade Marshall. During the summer, he worked yard maintenance for the school supervising high school and college age workers.

In 1981 he was introduced to Cosette Holland, a teacher at Okeene.  As soon as the school year was finished, they were married on June 5th at the Church of Christ in Okeene.  Seven years later, Cosette took a teaching position at Fairview High School and a month later was told she and David would be parents.  On February 14, 1990, Caleb Caret Wymer was born, their Valentine baby.

The school suffered state cuts, so David took a job as the trash truck driver for the City of Fairview which allowed him to spend more time with his son.  Years later a maintenance supervisor position opened at the Major County Court House, he applied and retired there two years ago.  David was always active in church and was a Deacon at the Central Christian Church.

Since then he worked part time at the fairgrounds and at the Royal Theatre.  Work was a must for him and in between his primary jobs he mowed yards, cut fire wood, and threw newspapers.  As a heart patient, he saw the need for Air-Evac helicopter service in Northwest Oklahoma and recently worked with the company to sign up clients.

After 28 years of fighting heart disease, David said farewell.  Tuesday morning he visited with friends and had coffee before God welcomed David to his heavenly home. All his efforts the last seven years were committed to his son's growing family.  Spoiling his grandchildren was a must on every trip, and being a Dad and Grandpa was the light of his life.

He is survived by his wife Cosette of the home, his son Caleb and daughter-in-law Latisha Wymer and their four children, Ana, Adrian, Jonathan, and Jaxon, of Elk City.

Memorial may be made to the Central Christian Church or OMRF with the funeral home acting as custodian of the funds.
