Funeral Services for Diane Murrell, age 76, will be held at 10:00 am, Thursday, July 31, 2008, at the Duncan First United Methodist Church, 2300 N. Country Club in Duncan, Oklahoma with interment in Duncan Cemetery under the direction of Fairview Funeral Home, Inc of Fairview, Oklahoma

Viewing for her friends in the Fairview area will be from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Fairview Funeral Home, Inc. There will be viewing before the service at the church in Duncan.

Diane Murrell was born July 16, 1932 in Gilmer, Texas to Robert A. and Velma Fisher and died Tuesday, July 29, 2008, at Fairview Regional Medical Center in Fairview, Oklahoma.

During her early years, Diane lived in Hollywood, California with her mother where she was a "childhood movie star." Diane appeared in several films including "Gone With the Wind" and was Don Ameche's daughter in all his early movies, such as "Swanee River." She is best remembered for playing Shirley Temple's little sister in films like "The Blue Bird." She was also in movies with such stars as Alice Faye, Buster Keaton, Clark Gable, Edward Arnold, George Montgomery, George Reeves (Superman), Henry Fonda, Olivia De Havilland, and Vivien Leigh.

Diane and her family moved back to Texas, then to Oklahoma and she graduated from Duncan High School. Diane met and married Dale Murrell of Duncan, Oklahoma on December 31, 1954 where they made their home and she took pleasure in being a mother and homemaker.

After Dale passed away in 1985, Diane suffered a stroke and moved into Greenbriar Nursing Home in Enid to be near her daughter Cathy Redinger of Fairview. Diane enjoyed her time at Greenbriar, especially the friends she made over the years and visits from the children of Emmanuel Baptist Church's School, who wanted to know about her life as a "movie star." Her favorite subject was sharing about the activities of her grandchildren.

Diane is survived by one daughter, Cathy and Rich Redinger of Fairview; three grandchildren, Lindy Redinger of Oklahoma City, Mandy Redinger of Edmond and Nathan Redinger of Fairview; and one brother, Bob Fisher of Hollywood, California.

Her parents and husband Dale preceded her in death.

"Looking back, I consider myself very fortunate. I had the best of two worlds. I had my career; I had all the fun of dressing up, of being with famous people and doing exciting things. I married and raised a family. Cathy, our daughter, is my greatest production; and then my three grandchildren, Elizabeth Lindy, Mandy Raye and Nathan Paul Redinger. The Lord has been good to me." Diane
