Funeral Services for: Donald Wesley Lowder, 83, of Ringwood, will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, January 28, 2008 at the Fairview Funeral Home Chapel. Bishop George Curtis will officiate. Arrangements are by Fairview Funeral Home, Inc.

Donald Wesley Lowder was born December 28, 1924 in Fairview, Oklahoma to John Wesley Lowder and Caroline Elsie (Rowley) Lowder and passed away January 24, 2008 at the Fairview Regional Medical Center in Fairview, Oklahoma.

There will be no public viewing; friends may sign the register book at the funeral home.

Don graduated from Fairview High School in 1941. He joined the United States Navy and served on the LST 339 in the Pacific Theater during World War II. Just prior to his honorable discharge in 1945, he was promoted to the rank of 2nd Lieutenant. Following his discharge, he returned to Oklahoma and attended Oklahoma A& M (now OSU) in Stillwater. Don received a BA in business. He married Jewel Glee Willits on February 23, 1947 in Pratt, Kansas. He then taught at Hazelton, Kansas for a couple of years. Upon leaving Kansas, he returned home to Oklahoma and taught at many schools in northwest Oklahoma, and later in New Mexico. He taught math and science and served as administrator for 25 years. Don was active in teachers' organizations throughout his teaching career. He was a Millwright in Utah and in Oklahoma when they returned home. Don also earned two Master degrees. He was a rancher as well.

Don was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints; was a branch president, and served in other capacities in the church. He was also a member of the American Legion King Hagan Post 51 and AA.

He is survived by one son, John Lowder of Ringwood; one daughter, Kathryn Duffy and husband Richard of Guymon; 10 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Jewel; one daughter, Kerry Dawn Lowder and one brother, Lee Lowder.

Memorials may be made to the charity of choice with Fairview Funeral Home Inc. acting as custodian.
