Graveside Funeral Services for Doris Lee Monroe, 80, will be 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 3, 2010, at the Greenwood Cemetery in Council Grove, Kansas. The Reverend Richert Redinger will officiate. Arrangements by the Fairview Funeral Home, Inc.

Visitation in Fairview will be Monday, March 1, from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 pm, with the family present from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Fairview Funeral Home. Visitation in Council Grove, Kansas will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. with the family present at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home.

Doris was born November 28, 1929 in Council Grove, Kansas to Houston and Dorothy Mae Jones and passed away February 26, 2010 at the Fairview Fellowship Home in Fairview, Oklahoma surrounded by her loving family.

Doris attended Holyrood School the first six years of school, and then moved with her family to Cottonwood Falls where she finished her schooling. She married Gerald R. Bullock on August 2, 1946 and to this union three children were born, two sons and one daughter. She married Leo D. Monroe on October 2, 1968; they lived in Council Grove until his death in May of 1990.

Doris was a member of the Rebekah Lodge #37 for 10 years; she held the offices of outside guard and Vice Grand and Secretary. She was chapter President and State President of the American War Dads Auxiliary for three years. Doris was also the first President of the Morris County Hospital Auxiliary for five years; she was a member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary and held the office of Chaplain and Conductor

Doris moved to Rogers, Arkansas where she had an in-home daycare for several years, she became lovingly know as Granny Roe-Roe. She moved to Fairview, Oklahoma after some health problems started to occur.

Doris is survived by one daughter Cherol Washburn and husband Richard of Roger, Arkansas; two sons, Lynn Bullock of Fairview and Gary Bullock and wife Pat of Crain, Missouri; one brother-in-law Lloyd Jones of Muskegon, Michigan; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and 22 great-great-grandchildren.

Her husband and two grandchildren preceded her in death.

Memorials maybe made to the VFW Ladies Auxiliary in Rogers, Arkansas, with Fairview Funeral Home acting as custodians of the funds.
