Funeral Services for Dorothy May Wichert, 84, will be 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, December 2, 2008 at the Cedar Springs Church of the Nazarene at Cedar Springs, Oklahoma. The Reverend Herb Berkley will officiate. Burial will follow in the North Mennonite Brethren Cemetery. Arrangements are by Fairview Funeral Home, Inc.

Viewing will be from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm Monday, December 1, 2008 at the funeral home.

Dorothy May Wichert was born March 2, 1924 in rural Fairview, Oklahoma to Joe and Rosa (Ensminger) Chaloupek and passed away November 27, 2008 at the Fairview Fellowship Home in Fairview, Oklahoma.

Dorothy May Chaloupek married Clarence Wichert while he was on leave from the service, January 15, 1944 in Fairview, Oklahoma. Dorothy remained in Fairview while Clarence returned to duty overseas. Until Clarence's return from the service Dorothy worked at Hallren's candling eggs and Cawley's Dry Goods Store. After Clarence's discharge, he returned to Fairview to be with Dorothy. They lived on the farm until 1996 when they retired due to health reasons and moved into Fairview.

For many years, she traveled to different locations with Clarence and daughter Carolyn while they played with the Herb Nickel Band. She was famous for her homemade peppernuts at Christmas time. Dorothy was a member of the Cedar Springs Church of the Nazarene.

Dorothy is survived by son-in-law Beryl Barnard of Fairview, two grandchildren Randall Barnard and JaNae Barnard of Fairview; two brothers Clyde Chaloupek and wife Violet of Canton and Larry Chaloupek and wife Pat of Cherryvale, Kansas.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Clarence, daughter Carolyn Barnard, six brothers, Louis, Jesse, Chet, Allen, Raymond and Bert, one sister, Josie Wilson.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Hospice Circle of Love or Cedar Springs Nazarene Church.
