Graveside Services for Edward "Ed" Leon Wimer, 63, formally of Fairview, will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, April 16, 2009 at the Fairview Cemetery, Fairview, Oklahoma. The Reverend Ronnie Hopkins will officiate. Arrangements are by Fairview Funeral Home, Inc.

Viewing will be 9 am to 8 pm on Wednesday, 15 April 2009 and from 9 am to 10 am on Thursday before the service.

Edward Leon Wimer was born on November 11, 1945 in Enid to Raymond and Mamie Marie (Coffey) Wimer and passed away April 12, 2009 at the Stillwater Medical Center, Stillwater, Oklahoma.

Ed moved to Fairview with his family when he was three years old and attended school thru the 12th grade graduating in 1964. He then attended Business College in Enid for 1 year. After completion of business school he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1965. Ed was stationed in Italy and Alaska during his 4 year enlistment and was Honorably Discharged in 1969.

After being discharged, he returned to Fairview and went to work with his brother Oren. Ed worked with Oren for 9 years and in 1979 he started working for Delhi as a pumper. He continued to work there until he retired in 1998.

Ed married Ramona Steidl in Fairview on December 27, 1970, and to this union was born one son Jason. In 2000 Ed moved to Stillwater and remained until his death. He loved to fish in his later years and walk around Boomer Lake in Stillwater. Ed loved to get up early on Saturday mornings wake his granddaughter Bailey and go to garage sales where she would help him spend his money.

Ed is survived by one son, Jason and wife Rebekah of Virginia Beach, Virginia; two granddaughters, Bailey and Caitlin Wimer of Virginia Beach, Virginia; one sister, Elaine Wilson of Amarillo, Texas; one brother, Harry Wimer and wife Gayle of Fulton, Kansas; and two aunts, Janell Barfuss and Lavonta Miller; two uncles, Elza Coffey and Burl Coffey, along with a host of other relatives and friends.

Ed loved his family and will be truly missed by all who knew him.

He is preceded in death by his parents, one brother Oren Wimer and one infant sister, Lois.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Legion or Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation - Pancreatic Cancer Division with Fairview Funeral Home acting as custodian.
