Elizabeth Mae Hicks was born March 28, 1919 to John Henry and Surrena Martin (Wilson) Crump in Leonel, Oklahoma and passed away on March 23, 2011 at the Commons in Enid, Oklahoma.
Beth grew up and graduated from Seiling High School. After graduation she moved with her parents to Fairview where she went to work for Hallren Poultry and Creamery Co., as a bookkeeper for 28 years. May 7, 1949 Beth married Dayton Hicks in Taloga, Oklahoma. In 1970 she took over the store for her father and in 1978 turned the general store into a children's clothing store. Dayton passed away in 1982, which left Beth to handle the store affairs alone. So in 1988 she decided to get a telephone, the business had been without one for 50 years and grew national news and the attention of Paul Harvey. She continued to run the store until her retirement in 1995, after having the Crump's family business open a century in Major County area.
Beth taught Sunday school for many years and was a member of the First Baptist Church. She was also member of the Chamber of Commerce.
Beth is survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Dayton Hicks, and one brother, Allen Crump.
