Funeral Services for Ella Doris Frantz, 82, of Fairview, will be 1:30 p.m., Saturday, November 10, 2007 at the Saron Mennonite Church in Orienta, Oklahoma. The Reverend Arnold Curby will officiate. Burial will follow in the Saron Mennonite Cemetery, Orienta. Arrangements are by Fairview Funeral Home, Inc. There will be a meal at the church for family and friends at noon before the service.
Viewing will be at the Fairview Funeral Home Inc. from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
Ella Doris (Eck) Frantz was born June 11, 1925 on the family farm in Meno, Oklahoma to Henry and Eva (Koehn) Eck and passed away Wednesday, November 7, 2007 at Integris Bass Baptist Health Center in Enid, Oklahoma.
Ella grew up in the Meno area and attended a small country school, Cozy Palace, near Meno. She married Wesley John Frantz on July 28, 1946 in Meno, Oklahoma at Ella's family home. They moved to the Frantz home place following their marriage and continued to farm. Ella worked for Dr. Hopeross in Enid. She later worked at Hallren's Produce. In 1965 they were blessed with daughter Doris, Ella's birthday present. In 1988, Wes went into semi-retirement and he and Ella moved into Fairview. They then entered the rental business, owning and renting 12 homes at their peak. Ella and Wesley continued to rent out homes until 2007. She was a very active member of the Saron Mennonite Church in Orienta, she was a member of the food committee, a Sunday school teacher, trustee, member of the Saron Mission Society where she served as president as well as filling many other offices. She belonged to the Common Threads Quilting Club and was the MCC Representative for the Saron Mennonite Church.
Ella was blessed with two grandsons, Joshua and Robby, who she loved dearly, and considered them to be more like her sons than grandsons. She loved children and was looking forward to the birth of her first great grandchild, her namesake, Madison Ella. Ella was also eagerly anticipating Joshua's upcoming wedding to Makenzie MacMillan.
Ella is survived by daughter Doris Gardenhire and her husband Jim, of Isabella; one brother, Lindy Eck of Enid; three sisters, Clara Belle Buller of Enid, Mabel Buller of Goltry, Kathryn Luscombe of Helena; two grandsons, Robby Otwell and wife Tanya and Joshua Gardenhire; and one great grandchild on the way, Madison Ella. .
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Wes; four sisters, Susanna Eck, Irene Becker, Eva Koehn and Myrtle Smith; and four brothers, Harry Eck, Lafey Eck, Peter Eck and Roy Eck.
Memorials may be made to the Saron Mennonite Church for the cemetery, with Fairview Funeral Home, Inc. acting as custodian.
