Services for Ernest Winfield Kiner, 89, of Aline will be Saturday, February 26th at 3:00 p.m. at the Aline United Methodist Church in Aline, Oklahoma, with burial following in the Aline Star Cemetery. The Reverends Scott Heusel and Kyle Kiner will officiate. Arrangements are by Fairview Funeral Home, Inc., Fairview, Oklahoma.
Ernest was born December 3, 1921 to George Winfield and Elsie Pauline (Lamle) Kiner at their home south of Aline, Oklahoma and passed away February 24, 2011 at St. Mary's Hospital in Enid, Oklahoma.
Ernest grew up and graduated from Aline Schools. After graduation, he worked as a motion picture projectionist. Ernest joined the United States Army in January 1942. He was in the 742nd Bomber Squadron in WWII where he served in the Rhinelands, North Apennines, Southern and Northern France and the Balkans. He received an honorable discharge in 1945. Ernest married Arlene Prentice on June 10, 1947 at the Church of the Brethren east of Aline. He and Arlene made their home south of Aline where he farmed for many years. They were blessed with three children. Ernest was a member of the American Legion and Lions Club. He was also a member of the Aline United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Arlene (Prentice) Kiner of Aline, his son, Dr. Larry and wife Kay Kiner of Enid; two daughters, Lucinda and husband Danny Wanger of Gore, Oklahoma and Paula Kiner of Seiling, Oklahoma; four grandchildren, Rev. Kyle Kiner and wife Jennie, Greg Kiner and wife Callie, Elizabeth Wanger, Ashley Wanger; and two great grandchildren, Anna Kiner and Noah Kiner.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Win and Elsie Kiner, and two brothers, Ray Kiner and Harold Kiner.
Memorials may be made to the Aline United Methodist Church with Fairview Funeral Home, Inc., acting as custodians of the funds.
