Obituary

Funeral Services for Ernestine Helen Hern, 71, of Fairview, will be Friday, December  22, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. in the Central Christian Church, Fairview, Oklahoma.  Burial will follow in the Ames Cemetery.   Arrangements by Fairview Funeral Home, Inc.

Ernestine Helen Hern, 71, of Fairview, Oklahoma, earned her angel wings on Tuesday, December 19, 2023, at OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City surrounded by her loved ones.

Ernestine was born to Clarence and Helen (Gibson) Hern on September 11, 1952 in Okeene.  She grew up on the family farm in Ames, attending the Cimarron Valley Schoolhouse as a child, and graduating from Ames High School in 1970.  She attended college at NWOSU, in Alva.  She married Marvin Titus on October 19, 1970.  With this marriage, she gained a son, Rick Titus. The family grew when the birth of their daughter Sheila, and they adopted a son Leonard.  Their family was complete with the births of their sons Daniel and Eric.  Ernestine was a stay-at-home mom for several years and then held a variety of jobs before her employment as an assistant/children's librarian with the City of Fairview in 1995.

She became the Library Director in 2000.  Her dedication and commitment to the community and people of all ages spanned over 25 years until her retirement in 2020.  Ernestine continued to share her love of the gift of reading, as she volunteered to read at the Cornelsen Elementary School.  After her retirement, she began substitute teaching with Fairview Public Schools and NW Technology Center, in Fairview.

Ernestine was a member of the Church of Christ, in Ames.  She attended the Fairview Christian Church faithfully and enjoyed being involved and volunteering with the children's programs.  She loved the adventure of traveling, gardening, reading, book clubs, and spending time with her grandchildren.  Her greatest joy was being a grandma and attending all the grandkids' activities, from concerts to sports- and everything in between.

Ernestine is survived by her children, Leonard Titus of Arizona, Rick and Suzanne Titus of Mullinville, KS, Sheila and Jerry Gould of Fairview, Daniel and Rosy Titus of Magnolia, TX, and Eric and Jewell Titus of Ames.  Grandchildren Lakin Worthington and husband Kenny of Laverne, Kalin Holguin and her husband Jesus of Dodge City, KS, Maverick Titus of Mullinville, KS, Lane Leisher and wife Destinee of Ft. Dodge, IA, Seth Leisher of Coldwater, KS, Cole Leisher of Weatherford, Janel Leisher Nault of Okeene, Jestin Gould of Fairview, Will and Alura Gould of Fairview, Josie Belle Gould of Woodward, Ian, Zachary, Desirae, Dylan, And Dalton Titus, all of Magnolia, Texas, Wylie and Wrenz Titus of Ames.  Two great-grandchildren, Lennox Leisher and Riggin Worthington.  Sisters, Irene Cottrill of Fairview, Laura and husband Ben Titus of Ames.  She also leaves behind several nieces and nephews, extended family, and close friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Orville Hern, a sister, Clara Hern, and a son-in-law, Dennis Leisher.
