The funeral for Ersel Harley Kehn, 88, of Fairview, will be 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 10, at the Isabella Nazarene Church. The Rev. Nathan Twyman will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Cemetery southeast of Fairview. Arrangements are by Fairview Funeral Home, Inc.
Ersel was born May 26, 1920, in Isabella, Oklahoma to Fred and Eva (Kahn) Kehn, and died Friday, June 6, 2008 at the Fairview Fellowship Home in Fairview.
He attended Elm Grove School, which was located on a corner of his family's farm northwest of Isabella. Ersel lived and farmed on the family farm with his sister Betty and brother Wilbur all his life, until his retirement. Ersel never married. He and his sister, Betty, lived together on the family farm until they moved to Fairview in 1990. Betty had some health problems for several years and Ersel was a loving brother who cared for Betty in their home in Fairview until she entered the Fairview Fellowship Home in 2002. After Betty's death in 2004, he continued to live in their home until entering the Fellowship Home in 2007.
Ersel came from a family of 11 children and is the last of his family to make the heavenward journey. He was preceded in death by his father, mother, and all of his 10 brothers and sisters.
Ersel is survived by several nieces and nephews. Those in the local area include Alice Hurt and husband Jon, of Meno; Rita Peterson and husband Wes; Lela Graham and husband Dwayne; Arnold Kehn and Harold Koehn, all of Fairview; Carl Kehn and wife Mona, of Cleo Springs; Mark Kehn and wife Lena of Waukomis, Percy Brown and wife Martha, of Cleo Springs; Martin Koehn and wife June; Claude Koehn and wife Elsie; Leonard Koehn and wife JoyBelle; Lawrence Koehn and wife Alvina, all of Ringwood. Ersel is also survived by many great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.
