Funeral services for Ethel Ruth Woodbury, 87, of Fairview, will be 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, July 20, 2016 at the Orion Baptist Church with Reverend Charles Newton and Reverend Mickey Flynn officiating. Burial will follow in the Orion Cemetery.
Family visitation will be Tuesday, July 19, 2016 from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Arrangements are by Fairview Funeral Home Inc.
Ethel went to be with the Lord on July 14, 2016 after a lengthy stay at Fairview Fellowship Home. Ethel was born on June 23, 1929, on a farm near Beaver City, OK to Walter and Esther (Wion) Back. The family soon moved to Dewey County, OK then to Arkansas for a few years. When she was 5 years old the family moved to Major County OK where they lived all her life except for a while in Waynoka, Alva ad Beaver County.
She attended school at Lone Star County School thru 6 th grade, when the school closed. She went to Longdale School where she finished her school, graduating high school in 1947. She married Lee Roy Woodbury on November 12, 1949 in Fairview. They lived in Waynoka where Lynda was born, then back to Major County where Roy Lee was born. She believed in Christ and was baptized February 1946 and joined Orion Baptist Church, west of Fairview, where she has attended faithfully. She was Sunday school teacher, W.M.U. president and Sunday school secretary for several years.
She was preceded in death by her husband Lee Roy, a daughter, Lynda Karber, parents,two sisters and three brothers.
Her survivors are her son, Roy Lee Woodbury and his wife Terri, son in law Garry Karber and one granddaughter Micah and her husband Andy Holcombe of Cameron Texas, three great grandchildren; Luke Holcombe and twins James and Mackenzie, also 2 sisters, Esta Martin of Fairview and Laura Woodbury of Medicine Lodge Kansas, lots of nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Orion Baptist Church, MAGB or Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation (OMRF)
