A Celebration of Life Service for Faye Eleanor Jensen, 97, of Fairview, will be 2:00 pm, Tuesday, December 15, 2015, at the Central Christian Church in Fairview, Oklahoma. Reverend Ronnie Hopkins will officiate. A Private Family Burial will be before the service. Arrangements are by Fairview Funeral Home Inc.

Faye Eleanor (Halstead) Jensen, known by many as Faye Eleanor, by some as Faye, and by most as Aunt Faye, passed to her ultimate home on Wednesday, December 2 ^nd , 2015, at Fairview Fellowship Home.

Faye was born October 15 ^th , 1918, on a ranch west of Fairview to Willie James (Billy) and Martha Halstead. She was the fourth of five children.  She attended Round Mound School until the family moved to Fairview in 1925.  As an eighth grader, she was elected "F" Club queen and graduated from Fairview High School in 1937.  Throughout her high school years she dated Marion Jensen and on New Year's Day 1937 they eloped. Marion left his parent's home under the guise of a quail hunting trip in and around Woodward. Instead, Marion stopped by the county courthouse so he could marry his long-time sweetheart, Faye Halstead. Because Faye was only eighteen, they decided to keep their marriage secret until after she graduated a few months later; however, she eventually let the truth slip while chatting with her mother.

Faye began her working career at Fairview Livestock Auction in 1937; then worked for Walbert Stores Co. for a year before a stint at Boeing Aircraft for several months during the war time in 1942 and 1943.  For almost 3 years while Marion was in the army, she worked for New Jersey Bell Telephone Co.  On January 1, 1946, she transferred to Southwestern Bell and became literally well-connected to the people of Fairview as their telephone operator.  When the Fairview office closed in 1962, she transferred to Cherokee and retired shortly thereafter.

Faye loved to play cards, marbles and bingo. Her love of games began as a young child as the family and neighbors played lots of games for entertainment. She continued this favorite past time even into her late 80s and early 90s at the Fairview Senior Citizen's Center.

She and Marion enjoyed traveling many parts of the world as guests of General Electric for whom Marion sold and serviced appliances. During later years she spent many splendid summers with her siblings and nieces camping, fishing, playing games, and storytelling in Colorado. Faye was in a special class of fishermen…she never baited or took her fish off the hook, but simply cast and claimed the reward.

Faye Eleanor was a faithful member of Fairview Central Christian Church, serving as a Deaconess, on the Bereavement Committee and a member of the CWF (Christian Women's Fellowship). She was also a long time member of the American Legion Auxiliary.

Faye Eleanor and Marion were married 74 years and shared a great example of Christian marriage. Many would claim that Faye was a pampered wife, as Marion waited on her hand and foot and catered to her every need. She always had a smile on her face and was sweet and kind to all she met.

Aunt Faye had no children but served as surrogate mother to her several nieces and nephews by attending most of their school and other events.

She is survived by nine nieces and nephews: Colette Stoddard, Bill Halstead, Barbara Prewit, Cheryl Smith, Lonnie Cofer, Karen Wilson, Gary Cofer, and George Halstead.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and four siblings: LeRoy Halstead, LaVon Parks, Margaret Cofer, and Elmer Halstead.
