Memorial Services for Freda Lavonne (Canaday) Metz, 88, of Fairview, Oklahoma, will be held at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, January 27, 2024, at the Fairview Church of the Nazarene, Fairview, Oklahoma.  Pastor Bob Hoile will officiate.  Arrangements are by Fairview Funeral Home, Inc.

Freda Lavonne (Canaday) Metz was born on May 6, 1935 in Fairview, Oklahoma to Carl Clyde and Nellie Fern (Warner) Canaday and passed from this life to the next on January 11, 2024 at the Fairview Regional Medical Center in Fairview, Oklahoma.

Freda grew up in Fairview and attended Fairview High School graduating in 1953.  Shortly after graduation, on July 29, 1953, she married the love of her life, Jerry Metz.  The young couple made their home in Fairview and were blessed with a daughter, Cheryl and three sons, Robin, Tim, and David.

Freda was always a hard worker, and worked at several different jobs in Fairview over her life.  She worked at Wedel's Grocery Store, Hallrens Processing Plant, Howard Way Chevrolet Dealer, and Ideals to name a few.  She also worked for Community National Bank as a Book Keeper until she retired.  She was also very active in the Fairview Church of the Nazarene.  Freda, in her spare time, loved to read, play cards, watch OU and OSU football games, but most of all she loved any type of sweets.  Freda was a very loving wife, mother and grandmother, who will be truly missed by all who knew her.

Freda is survived by one daughter Cheryl Ross of Fairview and son, Tim Metz of Fairview, six grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Fern Canaday, two brothers, two sons, Robin Metz and David Metz, one grandson, and great grandson.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to OMRF, dementia division.
