Funeral services for Glenn Dale Wedel, 84, of Ringwood, will be 2:00 p.m., Thursday, December 20, 2018 at the Fairview Church of God in Christ Mennonite.  Burial follow at the Wedel-Oakdale Cemetery, Southwest of Ringwood.  Arrangements by Fairview Funeral Home, Inc.

Glenn Dale Wedel, our dad and grandpa, was born on December 14, 1934 to Irvin and Hilda (Nightingale) Wedel in Rural Major County.  The angels quietly came and took him home on December 16, 2018.  He had just celebrated his 84 ^th birthday.

Glenn resided in Major County all his life, thinking there was no better place in the world to live.  He received his education at Oakdale School, a small country school near his home.  His childhood was happy and helped create the man we all loved and admired.  He enjoyed a close relationship with his father which he cherished his entire life.  His parents were poor and unhealthy, so he did all he could to make their load lighter.

Our father married Jewel Nightengale, the love of his life on November 17, 1956.  They spent every moment they could together until her passing in 2015.  Mom nursed him through his bout with colon cancer 19 years ago; he in turn took care of her during her years with Parkinson's disease.  When she left to go to Heaven, he grieved deeply.  They were blessed to enjoy 59 years together.

The important decision in dad's life was to serve the Lord; however, his only regret being that he had not done it sooner.  He was baptized by Minister Milton Boehs on March 18, 1981 in the Church of God in Christ Mennonite.  The church was dear to him and he remained faithful to God until his passing.

Dad loved us children and provided well for all of us.  He often commented that one of the greatest joys of his life was providing for his family.  He was a wonderful story teller and we enjoyed listening to his many stories of growing up and his few years spent in the National Guard.  He loved being a farmer and spent many years dairying with his older brother JayDee.  The grandchildren were dear to him, he did everything he could to make them know they were loved.  They enjoyed riding in the tractor with him along with many other memories while they were growing up.  He also enjoyed spending time with his brothers and only sister.  We so appreciate Aunt Darlene's care and love to him in his last days and months.  Family was his treasure.

As the time of his departure drew near and he thought of Jesus and Heaven, he wanted to make sure that he was ready to meet God.  We are so thankful that God was gracious to him and brought peace and happiness to his heart the last couple of days.

He was preceded in death by his wife Jewel, his parents, and numerous in-laws.  Dad will be lovingly remembered by his children:  James and Barbara Wedel; Mark and Becky Wedel; Susan and Vernon Martin; Barbara Wedel and Ray Morris; and Julie and Robert Laverty. Seventeen grandchildren:  Kayla and Dennis Lobsinger; Jamie and Jenni Wedel; Laici and Clayton Neumann; Daili Meyer, Perry and Jessie Evans; Lacy and Jon Schultz; and KayLynn and Duffey Rye; Cameron, Blake, and Bryson Martin; Tyra and Zane Moore; Brenden and Josie Wedel; Kaylie and Tyler Laverty; and eleven great grandchildren.  His siblings:  JayDee Wedel, Bill and Donna Wedel, Gene and Dorie Wedel; Jerry and Ruth Wedel, and Darlene and Verland Holub.  Along with many in-laws, nieces, nephews, and friends.
