Obituary

Funeral services for Harriet Bea Doane, 81, of Fairview, will be 1:30 p.m., Friday, February 2, 2018 at the Fairview First United Methodist Church. Reverend Andrew Haire will officiate. Arrangements are by Fairview Funeral Home Inc.

Harriet Bea Doane was born July 5, 1936 to Harry and Clarella (Odell) Doane. Her birth came about after Clarella had to chase a sow that had gotten out (which was their meat for the winter). Harry and the other kids were in Fairview for the 4 th of July Celebration.

Harriet attended several one room schools because her Momma was a teacher. She attended Longdale Schools until high school where she graduated from Fairview with the Class of 1954. During her school career, she showed sheep for the local 4-H club and was a powerhouse forward for the Lady Jackets. She never did get to play in the Echo Dome. Harriet was also a member of the Rainbow Girls through the Masonic Lodge. After graduation, Harriet attended Southwestern Oklahoma State University for one semester. She met and married Bill Kansorka in the year 1956, and divorced in 1957. Harriet moved to California with her young daughter for the USAF as a clerk typist. This began a 36 year career as a Civil Servant.

She was a member of the "Toastmistress Organization,"  was Mother Advisor for the Canton Chapter of the Rainbow Girls and became a member of the Eastern Star. Harriet met and married Donald Kinder on June 27, 1959. Don was active Air Force which caused them to move several times. Harriet worked her way up the ranks to retire as a GS-14 Procurement Officer. She and Don would divorce in 1997.

Carl Kabriel was Harriet's third husband. He too was active military, so they made their home in Wichita, Kansas and in Illinois. Both retired and moved back to Fairview on the "old home place" in the early '90's. They divorced in the latter part of the decade.

Harriet's favorite pastimes were "running the hills", eagle watching at Canton Lake, and watching sports. Her teams were the Fairview YellowJackets, OSU, OU and the Thunder. She kept up with the women's teams as well as the guys and could tell you the stats of the ladies. She loved them all; football, basketball, baseball and softball. And, Oh don't mess with her "Kiwi", Steven Adams.

Harriet is survived by two daughters; Mary Beth Watkins and Rebecca Jane and husband Sam all of Fairview, OK, one brother, Ben Doane and wife Betty of Lawton, OK, one sister-in-law Alice Doane of Lincoln, NE, four grandchildren; Richard Watkins and wife Katy of Norman, OK, Charles Bell and wife Sonia of Ames, OK, Daniel Watkins of Yukon, OK and Mercedes Peck of Fairview, OK, four great-grandchildren; Jasmyne, Rainey, Lane and Joel as well as numerous friends and family.
