The day Haskell has long awaited finally arrived. He went to meet his Heavenly Father and join his many family members already in heaven on March 16, 2023 at the age of 94 years, 5 months, and 12 days.

Haskell Leonard Looney was the youngest of 3 sons born to Robert Layfette (Fate) and Cora Estell (Herron) Looney.  He was born October 4, 1928, at home, in Temple, Oklahoma. As a child, Haskell's family lived near Chickasha until his mother passed away when he was 8 years old. Shortly thereafter, they moved to the Madill-Kingston-Willis area. As a teenager, Haskell asked Jesus into his heart and was baptized in a local creek. Following graduation from Kingston High School, Haskell moved to Perryton, Texas, where he worked for the Texas State Highway Department. His best friend was dating a girl from Beaver, who was Wilda Savoy's best friend. They convinced Haskell to have a blind date with Wilda. As a result of that date, Haskell and Wilda were married on July 27,1949, which happened to be Wilda's parents' 25th wedding anniversary.

The newlyweds lived in Perryton, Texas a short time, then moved to a farm SE of Beaver so Haskell could assist in his father-in-law's farming/ranching operation, as well as work at the Beaver Sale Barn and at Denzil's Grocery store. Their 3 children were born while living on that farm. Haskell and Wilda led the Beaver Christian Church high school youth group and ran a feed/produce store. Later they purchased and moved to their own farm SE of Forgan, where they farmed, ranched, and added a dairy. They were instrumental in starting a New Testament Christian Church in Forgan so their kids could attend church and go to school in the same town. Haskell loved and served his Lord in many ways. He loved nothing more than to do something for someone else. Haskell was chairman of the church board and treasurer of the Forgan School Board.  Among other ways to glorify their Lord, he and Wilda made many trips to orphanages all over Oklahoma, each time delivering a stock trailer full of clothing and useful items they had collected. Haskell loved and enjoyed spending time with his family.

Haskell spent most of his time working, but if he wasn't working, his favorite thing to do was "just go". He didn't care where, he just loved to hop in the vehicle and go. As soon as he got home he was ready to go again.

Haskell and Wilda shared a wonderful 70-year marriage during which they were inseparable, together in whatever they did. side by side every day. work or play. When Wilda's Health started to fail, they to an Assisted Living Center in Liberal, Kansas.  Haskell was faithful to care for her the rest of her life. Haskell moved to Woodward to spend his final years, later he moved to Fairview, Oklahoma.

These words seem so inadequate to summarize Haskell s life, but there is no doubt his crown in heaven is abundantly full of jewels, and that those who knew and loved him will feel the void he left until they are reunited with him again in heaven.

Haskell was preceded in death by his parents and step-mother O.C. Looney, brothers Floyd and Glen Looney, sister Jeanette Looney, and wife Wilda Looney, as well as his in laws Ray and Fredeah Savoy.

Those remaining to carry on his memory and his name are his three children: Danny Looney and Vicki of Plano, Texas; Jo Ann Bellmon and husband Lyle, of Waynoka, Oklahoma; and Nancy Lewis and husband Jim of Fargo, Oklahoma. His 8 grandchildren: Jesse Lewis of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Kayla Blount and husband Jeff of Jones, Oklahoma; Chad Lewis and wife Jennifer of Gage, Oklahoma; Ryan Looney and wife Jessica of Bentonville, Arkansas; Kristen Harris of Waynoka, Oklahoma; Jonathan Looney and wife Lauren of Plano, Texas; Kerri and husband Kevin Cozens, of Taloga, Oklahoma, and Keedrian Boucher and husband Zach of Waynoka, Oklahoma.  Also, his 15 great-grandchildren: Copper and Zuri Lewis, Taylor and Weston Lewis, Hayden and Teagun Harris, Emery, and McClain Looney, Bryson, Beckett, and Davis Looney, Kynztlee and Kylinn Cozens, and Elle Boucher, as well as, 2 nephews Anthony and Michael Looney, and a multitude of other relatives and friends.
