Funeral services for Helen Junetta "June" Montgomery, 83, of Fairview, will be 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, September 10, 2008, at the First United Methodist Church of Fairview. The Reverend Richert Redinger will officiate. Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery. Arrangements are by Fairview Funeral Home, Inc.

Viewing will be at Fairview Funeral Home, Inc: Monday 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Tuesday 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Helen Junetta "June" Montgomery was born September 28, 1924 to Daniel and Ruth Edna (Morrison) Schuber south of Okeene, Oklahoma and passed away on September 6, 2008 at the Fairview Regional Medical Center in Fairview, Oklahoma.

June grew up in Okeene, Oklahoma and graduated from Okeene High School in 1942. She attended Oklahoma College of Liberal Arts in Chickasha and received her Bachelor of Science degree from Central State College, Edmond where she was a member of the Shakespeare Club. June married Edward Creagmile Montgomery on August 24, 1947 in Fairview. She taught one year in Moore and then one year at Oklahoma City. She continued to teach, first at Fairview, then at Cleo Springs, Orienta, Progressive, Watonga and Enid. In 1968, she was chosen as Major County's Teacher of the Year and represented the county at the Oklahoma State Fair. June was also a loving wife and mother of two children, K.C. and Mary Beth. She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Fairview where she had been a teacher and superintendent of the Sunday school program. June had served as president and secretary of the Wesleyan Service Guild and was past president of the Fairview Mother's Club. She was a member of the state and national education associations and served as president and secretary of the Major County Retired Teachers and held the same offices in the Fairview Teacher's Association. June was also a member of the Kappa chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma, which is an honorary teachers group. She also belonged to the American Legion Auxiliary. After she retired June continued to tutor many local students out of her home.

She is survived in death by her son, K.C. Montgomery and wife Nova; daughter Mary Beth McFadden, all of Fairview; and four grandchildren, Andrew Montgomery, Ashley Montgomery, Miles McFadden and Malia McFadden.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband Edward C. Montgomery.

Memorials may be made to the Fairview First United Methodist Church with Fairview Funeral Home, Inc. acting as custodian of the funds.
