Obituary

Funeral Services for Hubert G. Harrison, 76, of Fairview, will be 2:00 p.m., Friday December 26, 2008, at the Fairview Funeral Home Chapel. The Reverend Ronnie Hopkins will officiate. Arrangements are by Fairview Funeral Home, Inc.

Viewing will be from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 24 and from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Friday December 26 at Fairview Funeral Home, Inc. There will also be viewing at the service.

Hubert Grover Harrison was born January 30, 1932 in Okemah, Oklahoma to Julius Grover Harrison and Mattie Lorena (Shumake) Harrison and passed away December 23, 2008 at his home in Fairview, Oklahoma.

Hubert attended Lonestar School in Okemah. After finishing school, he worked at various jobs in the area. He married Carrie Mae Wells on October 3, 1950 in Okemah, Oklahoma. Following their marriage, he worked for two years at the John Deere Dealership in Okemah as a mechanic. Hubert then began working as a compressor mechanic for Titus Oil Company for three years. Hubert and Carrie were blessed with three sons, Mike, Terry and Berlin. The family moved to Seminole where Hubert worked at the Redco Gasoline Plant for 16 years. In 1972, they moved to Fairview where he was employed by Texas Oil and Gas and then Delhi Gas until his retirement on January 31, 1994.

Hubert played guitar and sang in a band. He taught all of his boys how to play and had many a jam session on the back porch with them and his friends. Hubert enjoyed fishing, camping and gardening, particularly with his grandchildren, dove hunting with his sons and playing dominoes and other games with any of his many family members. He also was a carpenter and built shelves for his wife and daughter-in-laws, which they greatly treasure. Hubert loved his wife and children and enjoyed every minute he could spend with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Hubert was a member of the Central Christian Church in Fairview.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Carrie Mae Harrison of Fairview; three sons, Mike Harrison and wife Diana of Fairview, Terry Harrison and wife Brenda of Goltry, Berlin Harrison and wife Gina of Fairview; two brothers, Cecil Harrison and Garvin Harrison; five sisters, Lena Condict, Evelyn Grayson, Shirley Hardin, Edna Keener and Merle Carter; five grandchildren, Shelly Kneisel and husband Jay, Randy Harrison and wife Stephanie, Chris Harrison and wife Sarah, all of Stillwater, Jennifer Froese and husband Kris of Enid, Kira Harrison of Fairview; 13 great-grandchildren, Breck, Sheylir, Craig and Kenley Harrison, Zoe and Coby Long, Mazie Harrison, Sadie Harrison, Patrick and Michael Kneisel, Caleb Harrison, Allie Harrison and Jarod Froese.

His parents, three brothers, two sisters and one child preceded him in death.

Memorials may be made to Fairview Hospice Circle of Love or the Central Christian Church through Fairview Funeral Home, Inc.
