Iola Eldora Peterson was born January 7, 1924 in Chester, Oklahoma to Chester and Sadie (Pratt) Noble and passed thru our savior's door on December 23, 2008 in Cherokee Oklahoma of natural causes.
Iola spent her entire life in the Fairview and Cherokee area and finally, in 1964, settled in Fairview. She was employed at Hallren's Produce until it closed. She then became the cook at Verna's Café until she purchased it and became the proud owner of Iola's Café. She managed and cooked at her café thru the 70's and 80's until she sold it. She then began cooking at various caterers in Fairview including the Senior Center.
Iola was a strong independent woman who raised her seven children by herself. She worked hard to make her café better for herself and the children. She enjoyed playing dominos, cards and checkers with her children and in her later years at the senior center.
Iola is survived by her children, Raymond Peterson of Billings, Oklahoma, Wesley Peterson and wife Rita of Fairview, Oklahoma, Edna Murphy and Thomas Hardy of Phoenix, Arizona, Marilyn Schmidt and husband Ken of Calumet, Oklahoma, Merle Peterson and wife Linda of Chouteau, Oklahoma, Pat Haldaman and husband Dale of Fairview, Oklahoma; seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and eight great-great-grandchildren.
Her parents, one son Earl Peterson and nine brothers and sisters preceded her in death.
Memorials may be made to Fairview Hospice Circle of Love thru the Fairview Funeral Home, Inc.
