Obituary

Funeral Services for Irene A. Nightengale, 95, of Fairview, will be Thursday, 10:30 a.m., May 21, 2015, at the Church of God in Christ Mennonite with burial to follow in the Cedar Cemetery. Reverend Randy Levings and Deacons Clark Boehs and Wayne Unruh will officiate. Arrangements are by the Fairview Funeral Home Inc.

Irene Anna Nightengale was born to Frank J. and Ella Nichols Nightengale on September 24, 1919, near Homestead, Oklahoma and passed away peacefully at the Fairview Fellowship Home on May 18, 2015.

She was baptized into the Church of God In Christ, Mennonite by Minister Frank Haynes on February 15, 1933. She remained faithful to these vows until her death.

Irene was soft hearted, working much of her life as a nurse aide at the Fairview Hospital. She was a quiet, gentle, and gracious person who always made other people feel special. She loved to travel, visiting the Holy Lands and Alaska.   Irene never married, but she enjoyed spending time with her many nieces and nephews, always remembering them on birthdays and holidays. She made them feel valued.

Irene is survived by one sister, Betty and husband Gordon Unruh of Greensburg, Kansas, one brother, John from Fairview, Oklahoma, and a sister-in-law, Joan, Mrs. Marvin Nightengale of Century, Florida, and many nieces and nephews and their families. She was preceded in death by her parents, 5 brothers; Harlan, Virgil, Donald, Marvin, and Frank Curtis who died as an infant, one sister, Janette; 3 sister-in-laws, 2 nephews, and one niece.
