Funeral Services for Ivan Eugene Dow, 85, of Longdale, will be at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, March 19, 2013, at the Longdale School in Longdale, Oklahoma. Reverend Ray Schoonmaker will officiate. Arrangement by Fairview Funeral Home Inc.

Ivan was born on the family farm in Dane, Oklahoma on August 13, 1927 to Ernest and Evaline (Patterson) Dow and passed away March 16, 2013 at Summit Living Center in Okeene, Oklahoma.

Ivan grew up in the Dane area and attended school there. After school he went to work on the family farm and at the age of 18 he was drafted into the U.S. Navy. 9 months later World War II ended and he was sent home.

Ivan was a man with great knowledge. He loved to retrace 1873 surveys with Fred Walenta and others. He loved local history. Ivan was a skilled snake and coyote hunter. There wasn't a story that Ivan couldn't tell. Ivan was passionate about his work and friends.

Ivan is survived by his wife Jessie of the home; three sons, Don Dow and wife Sandy, Ronny Dow, and Earl Dow and wife Beth; six grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers, Norman and Victor; 2 sisters, Reola Grammer and Nyalene Fortune and 1 Grandson

Memorial can be made to OMRF Diabetes Division with Fairview Funeral Home acting as custodians.
