Memorial Services for Jared Cody Bedwell, 25, of Isabella, Oklahoma will be held at 1:30 pm, Wednesday, January 2, 2013 at the Fairview Methodist Church with Reverend Rich Reddinger officiating. Arrangements are by Fairview Funeral Home, Inc.
Jared Cody Bedwell was born October 17, 1987 to Jeff and Diane (Rexwinkle) Bedwell in Okeene, OK and passed from this life suddenly after a tragic automobile accident on December 27, 2012.
Jared entered his life in the way that he chose to live his life, large! Weighing just over 14 lbs at birth, he began to amass a following of friends and loved ones that enjoyed watching him grow in spirit and personality.
Jared began influencing his many friends while attending grade school in Okeene, Ok. When Jared was a high school freshman, his family moved to Fairview and he began attending the Fairview High School from which he graduated as a member of the 2006 Graduating Class. Jared was a very active 4-H'er in Blaine County where he enjoyed exhibiting sheep, pigs and his passion, beef cattle. For his achievements as a 4-H'er, he was recognized many times at the county level and ultimately as a State 4-H Beef Award Finalist. Jared became a very active member of the Fairview FFA Chapter where he served as an officer and received many honors and recognitions for his hard work.
As an FFA Member he was a recipient of the Star Chapter Farmer of the Fairview FFA, and received the Oklahoma State FFA Degree from the Oklahoma FFA Organization. These honors were a direct result of his leadership, citizenship and accomplishments as a breeder and exhibitor of Shorthorn Cattle. During this time Jared was a board member and officer of the Oklahoma Junior Shorthorn Association and the Oklahoma Junior Cattlemen's Association. He also was a member and participated in activities of the National Junior Shorthorn Assoc., the Oklahoma Junior Angus Association, and the American Junior Angus Association. He was often a successful exhibitor of his cattle at the local, state and national levels making many new friends along the way and laying a foundation for what has become a successful reputation as a cattleman.
Jared received an Associates Degree from NEO A&M College in Miami, Ok and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Animal Science from Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, Oklahoma. Jared put himself through college at both NEO and OSU by grooming cattle for shows and sales while at the same time beginning his business and building his reputation that is now represented by Bedwell Cattle Company.
Upon completing his degrees from OSU and NEO, he accepted a position of employment with Cyclone Trace Cattle Co. in Clarion, Iowa and he moved Bedwell Cattle Company back to the Bedwell home at Isabella, Ok so that he could manage his established business and still serve the Cyclone Trace organization.
Perhaps Jared's greatest accomplishments are the friendships that he made in his short life and the respect that he earned from cattle industry peers regarding his abilities and talents as a cattleman and a groomer of elite cattle.
Jared is survived by his parents, Jeff and Diane Bedwell and one sister Jennifer Bedwell all of Fairview. He is also survived by his Grandparents; Jack Bedwell of Homestead, Ok, Shirley Bedwell of Mutual, Ok, Ivan and Barbara Rexwinkle of Chetopa, Ks, Pat and Wayne Shearhart of Big Cabin, Ok and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Jared is preceded in death by his brother Justin Christopher Bedwell.
