Memorial Services for Jesse Lee Kooken, age 80, will be held Friday, October 2, 2009 at Orion Baptist Church. Memorial arrangements are by Fairview Funeral Home, Inc.

Jesse Lee Kooken was born April 12, 1929 in Fairview, Oklahoma to Jack and Erma (Baker) Kooken and passed away Tuesday, September 29, 2009 at St. Mary's Regional Medical Center in Enid, Oklahoma.

Jesse attended school in Fairview, Oklahoma. He attended college for a short time then enlisted in the Army for 4 years and was stationed in Colorado. After being Honorably Discharged Jesse went to work for Gates Rubber as a supervisor. Jesse married Dorothy Hoog, January, 1956. He became the father of Dorothy's 2 sons, Lynn and Mike. After six years of marriage they were blessed with daughter, Linda. Dorothy and Jesse were married 25 years before Dorothy passed away. He then began traveling and enjoying his retirement. In 1994 Jesse came back to Fairview and met Nettie Gunsalis who he knew as a young boy and in January 1995 they were married at the Orion Baptist Church.

Jesse loved to fish and boating. He loved his children and grandchildren. He will be missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his wife, Nettie of the home; one daughter, Linda Garrett of Colorado; two step-sons, Lynn Withrow of Missouri and Mike Withrow of Arizona one brother, Kenneth Kooken of California; one sister Nellie Chamber of Arkansas; 2 grandchildren; 4 step grandchildren and 3 step-great grandchildren.

Jesse was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Dorothy Kooken.

Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes or Cancer Association with Fairview Funeral Home acting as custodian.
