Jimmy "Jim" Lynn Unruh

Funeral Service for Jimmy Lynn Unruh will be at the Church of God in Christ Mennonite, Fairview, Oklahoma. at 10a.m., on Monday, July 27, 2026. The Reverend Matt Levings will officiate. Burial will follow in the Cedar Cemetery. Arrangements are by Fairview Funeral Home, Inc.

On December 25, 1952, Jake and Jane Unruh welcomed Jimmy Lynn into their family in McPherson, Kansas. The second of five siblings, Jim spent his childhood living in Kansas, South Dakota, Wisconsin, and California. It was in California that he met the love of his life, Beverly Davison. They were married on May 10, 1977, in Denair, California, and later moved to Oklahoma, settling in Isabella to raise their family. To this union, two sons Nathan and Donald were born.

Jim maintained a strong work ethic throughout his entire life, beginning at a young age by bucking hay bales, driving tractors, and working alongside his father and siblings on the family dairy farm. At just nine years old, he was already driving a 930 Case Tractor. He was so small that a concerned neighbor once rushed to the farmhouse thinking the tractor was moving across the field without a driver, only for his father to proudly explain, "Nope, that’s my son Jimmy out there." This marked the beginning of his many years in agriculture. After moving to California, Jim worked at the Del Monte ranch. He spent the next eight years working with his father on the family custom harvest business. They traveled as far north as Dutton, Montana, and as far south as Augusta, Arkansas. He also worked in the oilfields with his brothers during the Oklahoma oil boom in the late 1970s and early 1980s. For the past 35 years, Jim was a dedicated employee at Wright Cattle Company. When Jim checked cattle on the homestead blacktop where his sister lived, he often would enjoy having lunch with her.

Jim deeply loved his seven grandchildren and cherished his title as "Papa." He and Beverly enjoyed many memorable trips to Red River, New Mexico together. As an avid outdoorsman, he greatly enjoyed pheasant hunting in Montezuma, Kansas and fishing on Canton Lake with his brothers. He looked forward to the Colorado fishing trips with his brothers, sons, and cousins. His annual white tail deer hunting camp with Nathan and his sons. Most importantly Jim accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and found great comfort in his faith often expressing the calm feeling he felt in his heart. He looked forward to his daily devotions with his wife Beverly.

Left to mourn his memory are his wife, Beverly; their son Nathan Unruh and fiancée Becky Brown of Watonga, Oklahoma; Nathan’s sons Jacob, Jagger, and Isaac; His son Donald and his wife Brada of Okeene, Oklahoma, and their family Madison, Miley, Lincoln, and Deacon.

He is also survived by his siblings Jerry and wife Tammie of Ringwood, Oklahoma; Judy and husband Steve of Isabella, Oklahoma; Jesse and fiancée Pattie of Ringwood, Oklahoma; His mother-in-law Reva Davison of Fairview, Oklahoma; one sister-in-law Diane Dunaway of Nampa Idaho; many nieces nephews and cousins and Crissy Unruh.

He was preceded in death by his Father and Mother; one sister; one nephew, his father-in-law and one sister-in-law.

Memorials may be made to the Bible School Outreach or charity of your choice with the funeral home acting as custodians.
