Funeral services for John A. Carroll, 81, of Fairview, will be held at 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, May 4, 2016, at the Church of the Nazarene in Fairview, Oklahoma. Pastors Ricky Chance and Chuck McKinney will officiate. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery. Arrangements are by Fairview Funeral Home, Inc.

John Allen Carroll was born in Fairview, Oklahoma on August 16, 1934 to Marvin Lester and Aunetia "Nita" (Young) Carroll and passed away at the Oklahoma Heart Hospital in Oklahoma City on April 30, 2016. He grew up in Fairview, Oklahoma where he attended school and graduated with the Class of 1952. John married Sandra Staunton on August 4, 1956. They were blessed with two children, Kevin Bruce and Patricia Ann. The couple then divorced in 1966. John joined the Army where he served from 1956 to 1958. Following his service to his country, John returned home and went to work. He was employed as bookkeeper by Vulcan Chemicals and Eby Construction. John spent 21 years as a custodian for the Fairview Public Schools.

John loved the Lord and was a member of the Fairview Nazarene Church. He served in many capacities there and cherished his church family. He had a servant's heart and loved helping others. He was a helper for Vacation Bible School, served as Missionary President for over 20 years and also helped in construction of the parsonage. Crafts were his hobby and baseball was his sport. John was a meek and kind man who will be missed by his many friends and family.

John is survived by his children, Patty and Gene Hoffer of Wichita, Kansas and Kevin Gary of Fairview, Oklahoma, two brothers; Marvin Lee and Barbara Carroll of Kingston, Oklahoma and LeRoy Wayne and June Carroll, of Fort Worth, Texas, grandchildren; Brandon and wife Camille Edwards, and Donnie Edwards, seven great grandchildren; Christina, Brandon Jr., Jennie, Jasmine, Titus, Hailey and Jaymie all of Wichita, Kansas.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Memorials can be made to the Fairview Nazarene Church with the funeral home acting as custodian.
