John Alven Edwards went to be with his Lord and Savior on December 11, 2020 at age 79 at his home with his family of natural causes. John was born in Fairview, Oklahoma on October 9, 1941 to Forrest and Irene (Vaughn) Edwards.
He grew up in Cheyenne Valley on the family farm and graduated from Cheyenne Valley School in 1959.
John married the love of his life, Leola Pearl (Patterson) Edwards, on February 1, 1960. He loved the hills and valleys of the family farm in Cheyenne Valley. He dedicated his life to farming and raising cattle. He loved his cattle and could feed many of them by hand. John was an artist and loved to share his art with family, friends and art admirers. He never met a stranger and was never to busy to help others. John was a member of the Cheyenne Valley Methodist Church.
He is preceded in death by his parents Forrest Edwards and Irene (Vaughn) Akers, granddaughter Wendy Marie Edwards, and grandson Kreyson Tyler Bonitz.
John is survived by his wife of 60 years, Leola Pearl Edwards, of the home. Three children, Terry Edwards and wife, Teresa of Fairview; Thomas (Tom) Edwards and wife, Rebecca (Becky) of Fairview; Molly Edwards of Bixby. Grandchildren Candice Averill and husband, Darrin of Fairview; Kimberly Long and husband, Harley of Enid; Jessica Dzierzewski of Ada; Cody Bonitz and wife, Kiana of Fairview; Cody Edwards and wife, Coral of Chester; Jaeman Raynor and wife Kaitlin of Bixby; Caleb Raynor of Norman; and Rheagan Raynor of Bixby. Many great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
Memorials can be given in his name to Cheyenne Valley Methodist Church with the funeral home as acting custodian.
