Graveside Services for John J Nightengale, 79, of Cleo Springs, Oklahoma will be 10:30 a.m., Monday, August 31, 2009 at the Square Cedar Cemetery north of Cleo Springs. Bishop George Curtis will officiate. Arrangements are by Fairview Funeral Home, Inc.

Viewing will be 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Sunday, August 30, 2009 at Fairview Funeral Home, Inc.

John J Nightengale was born August 11, 1930 in Okeene, Oklahoma to John J. and Eva (Wedel) Nightengale and passed away on August 28, 2009 at St. Mary's Regional Hospital in Enid, Oklahoma.

At 14, John left home to work and help the family. John married Carol Anne Robbins on February 19, 1950 in Isabella, Oklahoma. John was a heavy equipment operator for nearly 60 years and moved all over the central and western states. He was involved in many projects, to include missile silos in the north, several dams in the northwest, worked in the mines, layed miles and miles of pipeline and with the rebuilding of Highways 412 and 3. In 2002, with his wife's health failing, he retired. They celebrated 58 years of marriage before Carol Anne passed away in November of 2008.

John loved Harleys, riding, and his work. He enjoyed music and playing to harmonicas and juice harps. He taught his sons and their friends how to operate heavy equipment. John was a perfectionist at everything he did and took great pride in his yard. He loved the mountains. John was a member of the Latter Day Saints.

He is survived by his daughter Laurel "Lolly" Rich and husband Richard of Cleo Springs; sons Johnny Nightengale. of Clinton, Oklahoma, Kelly Nightengale and wife Laurie of Cleo Springs, Leslie Nightengale and wife Sue of Aline, Oklahoma, Wayne Nightengale of Cleo Springs; four brothers, Paul Nightengale and wife Mildred of Ringwood, Oklahoma, Floyd Nightengale and wife Carolyn of Fairview, Roger Nightengale and wife Lori of Ringwood, Andrew "A.J." Nightengale and wife Paula of Enid, Oklahoma; five sisters, Vivian Schmidt of Fairview, Waunita Koehn of Okeene, Oklahoma, Shirlene Koehn of Mayfield, Kentucky, Jewel Wedel and husband Glen of Ringwood, and Lauretta Koehn and husband Victor of Fairview; 13 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife Carol Anne; his parents; one daughter, Sandra Ruth Robinson; one granddaughter, Kelly Sue; five infant siblings and two sisters, Ruby Koehn and Anna Mae Schmidt.
